Two horse race between NAK and Laczynski.

I think after 11 is where it really gets interesting. I wouldn't expect anything close to consensus.

Don't underestimate NAK.

He just seems like a dime-a-dozen speedy forechecker. These players seem to filter through the league every year. He's a good player to have in a pool, but I like guys like Laczynski, Lycksell and Kalynuk a lot more.

NAK played much better his second AHL season at 21, but it was his second AHL season.
Then he was MIA in the playoffs, and his propensity for stupid penalties is a black mark.

Laczynski at 20, in what was his post-draft +2 year, 41g 17-30 47 +18 on a relatively weak Ohio State team.
Big ten hockey is better than junior hockey but well below the AHL.

Given age and quality of competition, Laczynski is ahead of NAK, but staying in college means he's now older than most of his competition and needs to totally dominate this season to remain a top ten prospect.

NAK for me. His 5V5 production last season in a superior league than the NCAA gives him the slight edge.

NAK deserves all the 1A minutes and PP time this year. They have done a good job refining his 200ft game (which was already good in jr), but they really need to spend time grooming him into a scoring winger this year. Giving him PP time should hopefully give him some confidence and help him build on a solid regular season

We are talking prospects with a single digit percentage of ever playing 100+ NHL games at best now. It's a crapshoot.

Both of these kids are much more likely than not to play 100+ games in the NHL.

I don’t agree with this. I think both NAK and Laczynski both have higher than a single digit percentage of playing 100+ NHL games. Neither of them are locks by any means... but both definitely higher than single digits in my opinion.

I went with NAK due mostly due to proximity to making the NHL team - I expect he at least gets a call-up at some point this season - and also because I know very little about Laczynski.

What kind of player is he?
The type that should be traded. Seriously though, he's a less shooty Wade Allison, definite middle sixer, has a very responsible 2-way game, more assists than goals, but gets points.

Went with NAK, because he does not represent O$U and is much closer to making the team. I expect, if everything goes well, Laczynski to be the better player, but he needs to leave college and play pro-hockey before he leapfrogs NAK. Inconsistent in regards to Allison, but Laczynski didn't dominate like Allison either.

I don't know about "much more likely than not".

I'd say it is 50/50. These guys aren't slamdunk prospects.

No, but 100+ games seems really likely for both guys. Doesn't mean they will have great long careers. I will concede to 50/50 but single digits is far too pessimistic.

I wonder where Friedman falls to. Do most consider him a lesser D prospect at this point than Ginning or Hogberg? I think Mark still has a floor to be a 6/7 dman at the NHL level and a ceiling to be a 2nd pairing guy in the right situation. Though I doubt that right situation is in Philadelphia.

Now Tanner is racing ahead. I thought my Knack gif would be more persuasive.

I'd have him ahead of Ginning (until he plays a full SHL season on a regular shift) but behind Hogberg (who is excelling in his role at his age in a tough league).

I'd be seriously glad to take the over on Laczynski playing 100 NHL games if it were available in a sportsbook. He's a surefire NHL player imo, and probably a good one.

Laczynski is #6 on my personal rankings. I feel like he belongs in the same tier as Allison, Ratcliffe, and Vorobyev. I assume he remains under the radar because of his 6th round pedigree and the Flyers amazing depth of prospects.

This is a really smart, do-everything, well-rounded power forward. Don't sleep on his offense either. Laczynski can score. His team at OSU lacks talent and plays a bland style, but he carried them to a Frozen Four this season.

NAK is also a slam dunk to play over 100 games.

Now whether he's ever more than a 4th line checking forward will depend on how his offense progresses at the NHL level, but his size and speed and basic skill level is easily good enough to garner a 4th line role for multiple seasons.
