 his last 5 outings are something to marvel at, 3 1/3 innings with an ERA over 21

Huge win for the Halos though, the reigning MVP does it again!

Shades of Koji getting the win when the Cubs blew an 8-0 lead at Baltimore and he gave up a tying HR to Mark Trumbo before Addison got him off the hook in the 9th.

Just for comparison, who are the other Mariner relievers that fill the gap between the starters and Diaz?

Pazos
Phelps (hurt)
Rzepczynski
Vincent
Zych

Pazos was warming up, then Mariners tied it so Diaz came in. Zych was warming up when Diaz was into trouble - Servais let him keep pitching.

Diaz is already getting taxed hard enough, and Servais let him go for something like 30 pitches and struggled with every single batter. You could tell by the second batter he faced it wasn't his night and this had all the makings of a blown game.

Don't get why he let it get so out of hand.

Bud Norris does it again, 3-0 to 3-3 in the 8th.

Why Scocia continues to trot this guy out in the middle of a playoff race is beyond me

Scioscia is ALWAYS slow to change even when the evidence is overwhelming. Its a disservice to his entire team that he keeps batting Albert 3/4 to spare his ego.

Andrelton Simmons should be batting higher, but again this manager does things his way which goes back to your point

There have been several games this year where I feel like the team is winning despite his decisions, not because of them.

Tonight was a perfect example, pulls Skaggs after only 84 pitches then brings in Norris whose been getting shelled lately, Norris gives up two home runs and wastes Skaggs' quality start. He just got lucky that Diaz couldn't find the strike zone and Trout saved the team again.

In a perfect world the Angels would've fired Scocia and gave Joe Maddon a blank check in 2015. But Scocia continues to live off 2002 and having an owner like Moreno doesn't help things

And it was Diaz's 3rd straight day of pitching. So now he's most likely not available tonight, possibly Saturday too.

At least Paxton is hopeful his injury is a day-to-day thing and nothing more. Talk about a wild roller coaster of emotions for Mariners fans last night.

Trout, what more can you say...we throw the GOAT stuff around so easily these days but man, he may really be in the running. And arguably, his prime is JUST beginning.

He's pretty much got a job for life, a la Tommy Lasorda.

as long as moreno is running things, scioscia's not going anywhere

it's his job until he doesn't want it anymore

Albert might finish the year hitting under .225

If he had any pride hed retire so people dont remember him for this, that money is hard to walk away from.

The Manager needs to stop massaging his ego and bat him lower and if need be start benching him.

Trout gets on base way to much to waste it on Albert hitting behind him. It hurts the team

He has $114 million left on his deal, plus the 10 year service part for $10 million, he's not retiring and the Angels are stuck with him.

I was never really worried about Pax mostly because I think he just got sore. He was near 110 pitches as the BP needed him to eat another inning.

Ariel Miranda is now our ace until Pax is back. I believe we have used something like 35 different pitchers. We currently sit in a playoff spot.

Not bad. Really makes you wonder what a rotation of Paxton/Felix/Iwakuma/Smyly/Miranda could've done for this team, especially considering the position they sit in now with not having two of those guys for the season and Felix on and off IR.

It feels like a wasted season, but who knows what can happen.

Paxton out at least 3 weeks. Safe to assume it was a grade 2 strain.

That probably sinks the Mariners.

Yeah, we're done. Then again, we've lived to this point, but then again, our ace is Ariel Miranda. What could go wrong?

I'll be amazed if they stay in the thick of things until Pax is back.

Well, the Astros have been in quite a downslid recently (Down 4-0 at last place Texas already), so who knows?

Brewers collapse continues, Cards uprising continues. Twins continue to win despite being sellers...

And please, Houston is NOT blowing a 13 game lead with 48 games left (46 for Seattle).
