Yam was awesome that period.

Wells was as well.

I'm conflicted because I want Yam to light it up, but I also want Wells to make every save.

Also finalizing my comp for Yam: 50% Brendan Gallagher 50% Johnny Gaudreau.

100% beauty

The Oilers hired Vaclav Burda as the new Head of European Scouting.

Spent a long time as a Euro scout with the Sens and they seem to have hit on a lot of guys from across the pond.

If he was responsible for Hossa and Havlat I'm all in.

He wasn't. Both were drafted long before he joined the Sens as a scout. The big European name the Sens drafted while he worked for them was Karlsson. Also Zibanejad was a top 10 pick. In the past 10+ years outside of the first round the Sens have only drafted Lehner and Silfverberg as Europeans who have turned out.

Sens board seems 50/50 over his loss. Wait and see I guess.

Burda seems to have a really solid track record with Swedish prospects.

The obvious ones are Karlsson, Silfverberg, Lehner and Zibanejad, but there's a good chance Marcus Sorensen, Fredrik Claesson and Jonathan Dahlen are NHLers next season too.

Andreas Englund had a cup of coffee last season, but will likely be in the AHL along with promising looking goalie prospect, Marcus Hogberg.

There's also Mikael Wikstrand who was Sweden's top U20 defenseman at one point and now looks to be a solid defenseman in the SHL at 23.

Kailer Yamamoto had a goal and an assist, was +1 and took a hooking minor in Spokane's 7-3 loss to Portland in their opening pre-season game.

Stuart Skinner stopped 39 of 43 shots as Lethbridge went down 4-2 to Medicine Hat in their pre-season opener.

Dmitri Samorukov was held pointless, with no shots, and was -1 as Guelph was doubled up by Hamilton 4-2.

Kirill Maksimov also went pointless, with no shots, and was -1 in Niagara's blanking at the hands of Barrie 3-0.

Ostap Safin is listed in the Saint John training camp but wasn't involved in 3 early pre-season games. I'm not sure if those were more for looking at players looking to make the team as the last game was on August 27th and the next pre-season game is on the 14th

How has our rookie tournament roster not been announced? Or did I miss it?

Seems odd considering how soon it is.

On Sunday, Kailer Yamamoto had a goal and an assist and was +2 in Spokane's 5-2 drubbing of Seattle.

This afternoon, Dmitri Samorukov went pointless, with 5 shots and an even +/-, in Guelph's 4-3 SO win over Mississauga.

Safin opens his season with a power play assist in a 4-1 loss to the powerhouse Mooseheads.

Safin also had 2 SOG, was even and was named 3rd star. He was also stopped on a penalty shot midway through the third period.

Stuart Skinner (1-0-0) turned aside 37 shots in the Hurricanes' 5-2 win over the Tigers. He also took a minor, which was listed as an "Ineligible P." Equipment, maybe?

Nice to see him doing well. Could be a darkhorse future NHLer. Hopefully can have a good season and come over and compete for a spot next year.
