Grigorenko is definitely the kind of player we should be looking at. He's been on some awful teams in Buffalo and Colorado. Being surrounded by winners might turn around his career. Still young and has potential.

Grigoreko would actually be a good buy low candidate, but isn't it concerning that he's not even getting a QO from by far the worst team in hockey? I also recall there being questions about his ability to play center in the past.

If you want a player who can't score goals, Grigorenko is the ticket.

He's being asked to do more than here. I think he'd be great as our 4C. Put him with Reaves and an LW with some skill and they'll get what we need done on that line. Wouldn't give him a lot of money though, that's for sure.

Wouldn't say no to Jordan Weal as one of our depth centers.

Crosby-Malkin-Weal-Grigorenko

Saves a lot of cap spending too

From what I've gathered Grigorenko is inconsistent and often times careless on the ice. Would still like him as a 4C/13th forward though.

Yes it is. However, if you rephrase it as...

Grigoreko would actually be a good buy low candidate, but isn't it concerning that he's not even getting a QO from by far the maddest most insane team in hockey? I also recall there being questions about his ability to play center in the past.

Then it's still concerning but a lot more worth a look.

He wouldn't cost a lot of money though. I bet when he signs (if he does), he costs less than 1m.

He's a disaster.

First there was Milbury, then Snow, then Sweeney, now Sakic. That's some good entertainment. Not that any of them are on Milbury's level.

This could be an interesting one for them to get. C and those 23 points were 6th on Avs scoring.

Beau Bennett didn't get a QO. Sign him as an injury magnet?

I'd feel bad if he came back and went through Penguins style injury **** again.

Yeah, looking at his stats doesn't paint a great picture for Grigorenko. I'd pass on him, I'd sooner look at guys like Girgensons or Sheahan if we're talking about a reclamation project. I'd be fine with a reclamation project as the 3C, but I'd prefer to bring in a young guy who was good at one point but is struggling now, not a young guy who was never good. Guys like Weal and Grigorenko are neither centers or were good in the past.

The issue with looking at young centers is that they almost all suck at faceoffs. Of Lowry, Jarnkrok, Sheahan, Girgensons, Spooner, Haula, Karlsson, Faksa and Nelson (assorted young 3Cs), I think only Haula had a good faceoff% last year and there are more guys at below 45% than there are guys at above 50%. Spooner has a comical 38% in the dot. It would be incredible if the Penguins found a way to snag someone like Pageau from Ottawa.

Full-time centers usually take well over 1,000 in a season, you know...

Even Malkin, who sucks at them, takes 800-900.

He'd maybe lower down to a 55% faceoff-man if he did them consistently over a full season, which is still extremely good.
