I'm just going to have blind faith in Joakim Grundberg finding another gem. Him being wrong will be a first, and he's a deeper sleeper than Hogberg even was. That's a gut feeling pick. Lycksell clearly has all the skill and compete to prove him right again based on reports from development camp.

No doubt. Gamble time on Olle Lycksell!

Grow 5 inches. Be endorsed by Grundberg. Lead tournament with 5 goals in the Flyers prospect 3v3. Still just 17 years old.

What's the most up to date height and weight known for Lycksell?

5'10, 163lbs says Hockey Reference. Obviously, he's still growing. So maybe we'll get more accurate info from his J20 team when the season starts and they release a roster.

Now I'll go back to Leier, Lycksell, Marody and Sushko have more raw upside, but it's so far away and unproven that I have to go with the guy who's basically a marginal NHL player right now with room to improve.

Voted for him. Martel has upside. Leier at best is a nothing special fourth liner. He lacks high end skill and is small.

He is about the same size as Weal.

I think there is a small chance he can follow a similar career trajectory as Weal and be a late-bloomer. At 23 years old, Weal went scoreless in his first 14 NHL games. Leier at the same age had 1 and 1 in 10. Both struggled with adapting but neither looked completely out of place either.

Weal was a more prolific score in the AHL and Juniors though.

Leier was listed at 5'10 178
Weal at 5'9 180
Martel at 5'8 162 - significantly smaller in terms of bulk

Weal was a ppg scorer at age 23, he had to learn to play a two way game.

Martel broke out in his draft +2 season, he's been a slightly better scorer than Leier in the AHL, not as good as Weal.

Weal is much much much better offensively. Leier has not shown high offensive hockey IQ and does not have great hands. Weal at the minimum has shown glimpses of top 6 potential at the NHL level and has dominated the AHL for years. Leier has done nothing comparably. He made the all star team once but you can't compare their skills. They are very very far apart. If Leier makes it, it is as a fourth liner. The Flyers believe Weal is a top 6 forward.

So you're saying that these guys aren't unicorns.

Weal didn't look any better in the NHL in his first 14 games than Leier did in his first 16.

That's all I was saying.

I am also factoring in Leier's defensive game, which is good, as well as his tenacity..which might help him nab a bottom 6 spot somewhere down the line in his career.

I also went out of my way to underline the phrase "small chance."
