Meloche. High ceiling, has a solid shutdown game already, and some puck skills to boot. I expect him to take the Bigras route to the NHL, probably not going to see the NHL until late in 17-18 (hopefully our D will be good enough by then we won't need him as badly as we needed Bigras this year). Slow and steady with him, but he's got by far the biggest upside left in our pool, and is the most likely to reach it.

Meloche is the most talented of those on the list, he's a big asset for the org and hopefully will make an impact moving forward.

Add Geertsen for me. Don't doubt Mironov's talent or possible NHL usefulness but his contract situation does impact his value and potential to help the Avs.

They took Fabbro, Girard and Allard who are all defensemen and "sexy" names coming into the draft.

they got 3 1st round talents while only having 1 1st round pick. I'd say that's pretty special.

I wouldn't trade our first 2 picks for their first 2. Yeah I wish we took Allard in the 3rd. They had an extra 3rd too, those are nice to have. Otherwise, meh.

Colorado could use a draft like the one Nashville just had.

It needs to happen. Focus heavily on D for at least 1 draft. Only stay away from tall oaks that do not have any puck skills and offensive abilities.
