I really want to like DeChambeau because he's different, and he's cocky/arrogant (if you haven't noticed, I like that). But he just seems like FIGJAM x 100. It's too much.

I don't think he'll be that good. All you have to do is look at the current top 10 of the world rankings. Most of the top college golfers were not four year college athletes.

Day, McIlroy, Stenson, Rose all didn't attend college. Spieth attended for three semesters, Fowler attended for four semesters, Scott attended for one semester, Reed attended for six semesters. The only two golfers in the current top 10 to attend for all 8 semesters were Bubba and DJ. Bubba was a late bloomer though. He didn't win a PGA Tour tournament until he was in his 30's, so thats not a good comparison if you think DeChambeau is going to be good right away.

DJ is the only 4 year college golfer in the current top ten, and he was good right away on the PGA Tour, so maybe DeChambeau will be like DJ, but usually the top golfers in the world aren't 8 semester college golfers.

It's similar to what you see in college basketball. If you are going to be really good in the NBA, you probably aren't going to be playing 8 semesters, unless you are someone like Lillard who no one knew about early on because he was at a small school.

Why is it a bad thing that the best players usually win? I'd think thats a good thing.

My problem with Augusta is how ANGC limits the TV coverage, and how Augusta conducts business on many other matters. I think how they treated Gary McCord is terrible.

I hate this tournament. Its the same course every year. You wonder why usually the same people do well at it.

I love the tourney but hate the apparent arrangement between Augusta and CBS that Jim Nantz has to verbally orgasm over the Masters every five minutes.

Was watching the press conference and Billy Payne used the word "fans" to describe the Augusta "patrons." I wonder if he'll have to fine himself.

I will admit I always giggle a bit when SE gets people going in threads.

Anyway, I love Augusta, but don't always love the coverage following around only a handful of players. I totally understand it, but it's such an experience esp for those who are there for the first time, throw in another guy every now and then. I was stuck in a hotel room without internet last year during family day and it was kinda tiresome and really just kinda weird.

I don't intend to get people going. I love sports but they are also flawed. I remember when I was younger I wanted to get a degree in sports management and work in the sporting industry. I was always told once you begin to understand the business it will actually kill sports to you to a degree as you figure out they are kind of predictable and even at times rigged.

I'm not big on golf but if Tiger plays I don't miss. Granted he's not playing now but that doesn't change that the masters is overrated. Its the same course every year. The more you play it the better you will do, like any repetition in life. Its predictable and that's not exciting.
