In flames land it's starting to sound like Tkachuk is making the opening night roster (humble-brag post warning). He's been playing with Bennett and Brouwer every game of the preseason and by all accounts that line is carrying on into the season. Tkachuk's playing well around the net, sniping some goals and playing like a born pest. Skating hasn't looked like a problem (but not a strength) and he has shown the positional and defensive issues one expects in a young player, but he's been put into a good position to succeed and his weaknesses haven't been defining his game.

Gulutzan also says "it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility" to see Tkachuk start the season in the NHL. #Flames

While not earth-shattering news, Glen Gulutzan suggested it's safe to say that Matthew Tkachuk will start regular season with #Flames.

Gulutzan on Matthew Tkachuk will practice Saturday and Sunday. Won't commit to game 1 in Edm. Says he has put himself in good place. #Flames

I'm hearing that PLD also has a good shot and Pulju may need more seasoning before he's ready for NA ice.

Who's in? Who's not? Who's close? I want to know!

Looks like Alexandre Fortin (2016 eligible but undrafted) will make the Hawks for at least a few games

Can anyone elaborate? A defenseman going straight into the big league is very rare.

Sergachev is already a #5 on the habs, he's been nothing short of amazing with the puck, he's been great in the neutral zone and offensive zone with the puck as well. His defense needs work, it's not that good but at the same time it's not abysmal either, for a rookie it's better than expected..

He's a lock to go back down to the ohl since his team is hosting the memorial cup. It'll do him a lot of good too. He'll get 9 games then hopefully know what to work on...speed, vision and skating definitely won't be an issue though, he has so much raw talent.

Sergachev will get 9 games from the looks of it, but he'll be back in junior after that. It's best for his development.

Alex Nylander is still with the Sabres, he doesn't look anywhere near ready but maybe he hangs around into the season.

This has to be one of the craziest situations ever. The guy got passed over twice and was well under a PPG in his draft+1 in the Q... The Q...

Matthews obviously, Laine hasn't lit up pre-season but it'd be a shock if he's sent back.

The 3 most likely people to make it past that appear to be Chychrun, Sergachev and Tkachuk. Puljujarvi, A. Nylander, and PLD are still in camp to the best of my knowledge, not sure on their chances though.

Provorov and Konecny should probably be on the Flyers opening night roster.

He's going to have to take the Samson Reinhart path to the NHL.

Time in Rochester & Weight training. Sam was a pushover during his trial but man, what a difference a year made.
