I think somebody reported that the 4th rounder is coming to Philly. Let me find it.

That's ridiculous that they get all the way to make the decision. Basically Hextall can't count on that pick to do anything with.

Ari is trading pick to philly no matter what. What be surprised if Chayka has called him and told him already. It's what's good for business

But technically Philly can't do anything with it. Like they can't move up in the 3rd and trade 2 4ths when they didn't get that 2nd 4th yet.

I am sure the NHL and PA would approve of the trade of that was the case. They could even say conditonal 4th round pick and then give it to the other team then

I think we should give Hextall another round of applause for turning Grossmann and Pronger into Gagner and any kind of pick, considering Florida had to give NJ a 2018 2nd to take the last year of Savard's contract.

That's OK. Arizona can keep its options open. If they really like a player they see slipping to 120 at the end of the 3rd, they might choose to use it - and give the Flyers the 3rd next year. Not likely, but if that was the agreement, so be it.

And mad props to Arizona for saying yes.Hexy can only do these things if the trading partner says surething.

Just like LA taking Vinny. Vinny and the Kings did it all and we didn't get back probably what we could have for Schenn by himself.

I think the Vinny trade was a good one for LAK looking back. They got two expiring contracts that seemed to help them for next to nothing cost wise.

Doesn't really matter that much, frankly. There's generally a one-round premium, so it would work either way.

Teams not waiting until the start of the round to determine a conditional draft pick isn't the exception.

That's not quite true. Yes, technically they can't say "we'll trade you 2 4ths this year" but they can say "we'll trade you our puck this year and the pick we get from Az, be it a 4th this year or a 3rd next year". We can also package our 4th this year with either of the 3rds we have to move up. We still have just as many options available to us as if the pick was known at this time.

Oh good, another fun year.

Can the NHL look like they are trying to help Edmonton any more?

I hope that 3rd round pick is a hall of famer.

Some people made a big deal about Hextall having 9 picks next year, but only owning 2 extra picks doesn't seem like a lot.

It doesn't seem like teams want to draft more than 10 or 11. He had 12 or 11 at one point this year? I forget and he swapped that 4th out.

It's important to keep adding picks while we are sellers because soon, we will be buyers at deadlines and that will cost picks and prospects.
