PHILADELPHIA FLYERS' 2016-17 WIVES' CARNIVAL

In advance of the Philadelphia Flyers 50th anniversary season, the club announced that its annual Flyers Wives Carnival will take place on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center. This marks the 40th year of the fan-favorite Carnival, one of the longest-tenured and most successful charity events hosted by a professional sports franchise in the country.

Tickets to the Flyers Wives Carnival go on sale today at FlyersCarnival.com, by phone at 1-800-298-4200, or at the Wells Fargo Center Box Office.

The Carnival provides the unique opportunity for fans to meet and take pictures with their favorite Flyers players, collect autographs, play interactive games, and take part in family-friendly activities. Last year’s carousel will return to center ice and accompany fan favorites on the floor of the Wells Fargo Center, including the six-story-high Ferris wheel, carnival games and booths, tailgate games with players, and meet-and-greets with Flyers players and alumni.

This year, several player combination autograph/photograph booths will be available for purchase in advance, including Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek, Shayne Gostisbehere, and Wayne Simmonds.

Early Admission tickets to the Carnival are $35 in advance and will allow fans to enter the building at 1:30 p.m. General Admission opens at 3 p.m. and is $20 for adults. Tickets for children 12 and under are $15. Children under 2 are free. Event parking is free.

Proceeds from the Flyers Wives Carnival allow Flyers Charities to assist many local beneficiaries such as the Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern Pennsylvania, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Living Beyond Breast Cancer, Pennsylvania, Police Athletic League, and many others. Since its inception, Flyers Charities has contributed over $26 million to various charitable organizations in the Greater Philadelphia Region.

October 8 seems late for the last pre-season game, but the NHL season would start on the second Wednesday in October, which isn't atypical. However, looking back at previous years, the Flyers haven't played their first game on October 12 or later since the 70s.

If I was Azi I would trade my 5th and a conditional pick like a 7th to the team with the last pick in the 4th round. Then they wouldn't have to give us a 3rd in 17.

I'm wondering if this means that the holiday road trip is longer this year. Last year it was only 3 games, but we made 2 other trips out there. Western Canada early, Arizona/Colorado late.

This could affect the Flyers (first post).

http://www.azcentral.com/story/spor...de-prospect-pick-sharks-draft-picks/86144142/

The Coyotes upped their number of 2016 draft picks to eight Monday after acquiring the Sharks' fourth-round pick and a 2017 third-rounder in exchange for prospect center Maxim Letunov and a 2017 sixth-round pick.

Arizona now holds two first-rounders (seven and 20), a pair of second-round picks (37 and 53) and single selections in the third (68), fourth (120), sixth (158) and seventh (188) rounds. Last week, the Coyotes traded away a fifth-round pick to land the negotiating rights of defenseman Alex Goligoski from the Stars.

I don't see why they don't move that 4th this year. Next years 3rd could be like 7-15 agian.

Is there a deadline when they have to turn over the pick? Do they get to see who is on the board and then decide?

So will the Flyers were the 50th anniversary jersey against the Kings in their first game as the Kings will wear the gold vintage jerseys to celebrate?

I think it would have to be before the draft starts on Friday night.

If Arizona keep 120 this year in favor of giving us 71-90 next year, that would strange to say the least.

Precisely, Hextall needs to know all of his assets going into the draft, he has two 4ths this year or 2 3rds next year.

All of these can come into play. He can't sit there on Friday night not knowing.

How do we never get 5 games against the Penguins? Each other's biggest rival, and the other just won the Cup, that game should be on national TV in every meeting.

The road trip out west to start the season is to accommodate the Flyers and Kings 50th anniversary seasons, as I think that is about the same date the teams first met, LA typically has their home opener on Saturday or Sunday. In which case, that is fine, and the Flyers should knock a couple western teams out while they're there.

As far as the draft pick, it all depends on the conditions agreed to. Some of these conditional picks are left open and aren't decided on until they're on the clock.
