It's easy to talk now, but Smoaky should have just got the out at first. We were just counting outs at that point, get the easy out at first.

Yeah I agree
As much as he is elite on D, that was poor decision on his part. You just need outs in that situation

You always go for the lead runner if you can. He got the ball to Goins in plenty of time. Was Goins' fault for going for the DP and dropping it on the transfer.

Which was really a 10-5 game then blew thru the pen needlessly IMO.

Who pitches tomorrow once the SP is knocked out.

Only Osuna pitched last night out of the 7, and I imagine he's still available for a save tomorrow if absolutely necessary.

That said, since Buehrle is pitching, we might need to use some of the other 6 again tomorrow which might shorten our pen to start the Orioles series on Monday.

The replays of that fan interference are hilarious. there is a few people yelling at the guy and a few that looked stunned and a few are glad that the guy did it before they did because they were about to do the same thing.

They really should put pamphlets on the seats or when you buy those tickets be forced to watch an instructional video of what not to do.

It was officially called a fielder's choice plus an error, so I think it was earned.

Was it scored with 2 outs, though?

how would it be a fielder's choice? Had he got the ball he was throwing it to 1st, but he booted it, there was no choice at all.

play by play calls it a fielding error. Nothing about fielder's choice in there anyway. and the boxscore says 0 ER for Cecil.

That's overkill, IMO.

Just play a 2 minute video on the Jumbotron about 2-5 minutes before gametime and again middle-5th.

Interesting.. The Angels are 4.5 back of the Rangers for the West division ... And they play Texas in a 4 game series to close out the season ... Granted the Astros are still in the way, some interesting things can still happen there

are there signs on the other side of the wall there in the first row, saying don't touch any balls on the field, even if you think it's foul. That might help.

The official scorer always calls a fielders choice on an error involving a different baserunner. It's basic scoring. Same with calling a sac bunt for a player trying to move runners over and reaches on an error.

The runner Cecil got might have scored with 2 outs, which makes any run that scores automatically unearned.

Are you saying that the days of Buehrle going at least 7 are over?

How can they call it a fielders choice when he made an error fielding the ball? Go check the play by play on mlb.com if you want, there was no fielder's choice scored

Are you thinking about the Smoak/Goins play error? Because there was no baserunner involved on the error on the ball Cecil's batter put in play. Barney just booted it.

There was an error before that, so had both plays been made that would have been 3 outs there.

A fielder's choice is "the act of a fielder who handles a fair grounder and, instead of throwing to first base to put out the batter-runner, throws to another base in an attempt to put out a preceding runner". The second Smoak throws to 2nd, if the runner reaches first safely, it's a fielders choice, unless the runner at second simply beats the throw.

Are you thinking about the Smoak/Goins play error? Because there was no baserunner involved on the error on the ball Cecil's batter put in play. Barney just booted it.

Wait, what? You're not talking about the Smoak-to-Goins error? :help:

The Barney play was called a double, wasn't it? That wasn't an error. Or at least it shouldn't have been. He had no chance on that one.
