Oshawa in 5.

They were built for this series. Defense oriented but lots of scoring depth, lots of grinding in the corners.

The qualifier is they win if they stay out of the box. If they take dumb penalties, then Erie in 6.

It proved they were better than the Greyhounds.
You don't prove you're the best until you win the big trophy.

Again don't get how soo is considered best team in chl after last week at top of rankings compared to 16 straight weeks the generals were or for thàt matter Erie might have finished number one if mcdavid never got hurt. If we are all being honest the three top teams from the ohl were Oshawa, soo and Erie. All three teams capable of winning it all. This series goes 6 minimum and maybe 7.

Even if the Otters lose in Game #5 tonight, does Connor McDavid earn playoff MVP honours?

Why not? Who else deserves it? Best player in the world right now not in pro hockey. 50 points is more than what half the league averaged in the regular season.:)

Depends how much you value finals performance, an argument can be made for Cassels

Well Mcdavid owned London, owned a top team in SSM and fell short against Oshawa but still averaged over a point per game. One could argue that nobody else stepped up for Erie. Mcdavid could have had 4-5 more assists if guys finished like they did last series and guys like Mermis didn't even play Mcdavid all that good if you remove the constant crosscheck and slashes

Just excuses. London isn't a good team this year post deadline btw, especially with Marner out.

He could have had 4-5 more assists, but he didn't. You could say that for any player.

Cross checks and slashes there were no more than any other playoff series. If McDavid can't deal with the physicality of a strong team that's a fault not an excuse

But I digress. Don't want to look like I'm complaining. I'm just happy my team won and showed they were the class of the OHL

How much longer are you going to go on about the abuse McDavid was taking? If you have to rely on your PP to solely win you a series, then you probably don't deserve to win. Pittsburgh would be the NHL champs every year, if the NHL catered to your preferred soft style of game.

My point is the only way to "stop" Mcdavid is to hack him. You give him space and time he shreds you. Crosscheck by Mermis right in front of the ref was a prime example of the missed calls he receives. SSM was not given those missed calls and as a result couldn't just blatantly tackle him and so he shred them apart

As the old saying goes..."the good play through it..the rest whine about it";)

He'll learn to rise above it. He'll face worse in the NHL. He said him self that Oshawa just shut him down...which they did. Get stronger and play though it.

The faces Mcdavid made in between whistles had him looking like he knew the refs weren't calling much. Half the time he overpowers a slash and body check because he is very strong on the puck for an 18 year old so they don't call it. The reason he said he was slowed down is because he always gives the politically correct answer. He is pretty boring at interviews because he gives the norm response as to not draw even more attention his way. Even if he felt he was played a little too closely with a few questionable calls missed he would never say it in a post game reaction... Never has been that type of guy. So can't really take him too serious with his hockey politic answers

Pretty good overall. Got the final 4, so only the 2 2nd round West matchups and the final weren't the correct 2 teams in each.

it wasn't the hacking or slashing or cross checking that neutralized McDavid. That has happened all year and frankly the Otters gave it as good as they got it.

The Generals game plan was to never let McDavid carry the puck through the neutral zone. The shadowed him in his own end and in neutral zone so that he wasnt an option to pass to. In the entire series he probably carried the puck less than 5 times into the Gens zone. Once was on the PP in game one where he made the pass and it was in the net in 2 seconds flat.

McDavid's greatest gift (amongst many) is his speed and ability to split defence or easily get around defenders. The Gens prevented that by preventing him from carrying the puck and gathering speed. Cassels, Latour and Lindberg deserve a huge amount of credit for their disciplined play in shadowing him.

The Gens weren't afraid to lose to Erie. They just weren't going to let McDavid single handedly beat them like he did others. The rest of the Otters couldnt pick up the slack and the Gens won in a far shorter series than most expected as a result.
