Sens would be stupid to offer that much. Giroux is great and all, but he isn't Gretzky.

I'd easilyyyyyyyy do that deal for Giroux. Giroux is a top 3 all-around player in the league.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Karlsson and Giroux on PP would eat teams ALIVE.. Heck on EV they'd be unstoppable together.

But that is a big deal to give up, especially in 2015 deep draft and Ceci no doubt will be top pairing defender, imo.

If we sign a UFA, I hope it's someone that fits in to that 2nd pairing LD spot. I would also be ok with replacing Gryba but it's pointless to have a high priced guy like Green on the bottom pairing and I would prefer to just give Wideman a shot.

I think everyone is always so caught up with which pairing people are playing on, maybe thinking outside the box will put us over the top?

Methot Karlsson
Ceci Wiercioch
Cowen Green
Boro Gryba
Philips

Obvious log jam that would need to be addressed to make this work and blah blah, but the point is.. if we are keeping Cowen then we are banking on him and signing Green would give us a PP specialist Veteran on the backend who scored 45 points this year.

If Cowen and Green are outplaying Ceci and Wier then you give them more minutes, if we are behind in a game and need more offence then you make the adjustments, it gives us more weapons and also could create 2a,2b pairing situation in Ottawa behind our obvious #1.

This is putting 2 people who COULD be 2nd pairing guys on the 3rd pairing.

I think our forward core that needs balanced scoring to succeed could benefit from an arrangement like this where any line could score at anytime

Lets get our forwards into the offensive zone, each pairing is more then capable of doing that, if Green and Karl could work together somehow on the PP then even better, 2 legit threats back there which should open up a lot of space

I understand giving Wideman a shot but we will always have someone knocking on the door in the minors and at some point we will have to shut the door on one of them even if temporarily.. if Green works then he turns into a tradeable asset, if Green doesn't work for us then we have someone waiting to take his spot and can move Green

Lets be serious for a little bit

The chances of us signing a UFA are slim to none in the first place. The chance of Murray signing a top 4 defensemen is 0%. We don't even know if we'll be able to resign Condra because of all the bad contracts.[/QUOTE]

Easy there Dr. Hyperbole.

Mike Green will sign with Edmonton for over 7 million per. Not a chance we even approach his agent this July.

Well not for 7 million but it makes sense for Edmonton. Why not make their PP lethal (with 4 or 5 elite forwards.) and have a vet experienced D they hopefully play 2nd pairing at ES. Sign him for 5 x 5.5. Would make sense.

I definitely wouldn't call Giroux a top 3 all around player in the league.

I watched a lot of Philly this year and was really unimpressed with Giroux. Hes definitely a good player but I cant see him leading a team to the cup

Too much for Giroux, no way BM would give up Turris (1st round pick,25 yo and on a great contract), Ceci (first round pick,20 yo and already a top 4) plus this year's first round pick in a deep draft.

Then add in the cost factor, Giroux will make $9M for the next 4 years, then $8M, $7.2M and $5M. While Turris, Ceci and whomever the Sens pick in the first round won't cost them that kind of money for years.

Never and I mean never would BM do this, it just makes no sense.

According to Marc Brassard the Sens won't be buying Greening out. They're trying to include him or Legwand in the goalie trade.

Ehrhoff would be so ideal for us. Solidify the top 4 and allow us to include Wiercioch in a deal for that top 6 forward.

Methot - Karlsson
Ehrhoff - Ceci

My guess on some potential trade options:

Anderson + Legwand for 16th Overall Pick
OR
Lehner + Legwand for 33rd Overall Pick

Greening, Ottawa 1st in 2016, Prince for Bickell and Sharp.

Michalek for a 3rd Rd Pick.

MacArthur-Turris-Stone
Sharp-Zibanejad-Ryan
Hoffman-Pageau-Lazar
Bickell-Smith-Chiasson

A goalie won't give u 'good value' unless someone else like puemp or Prince are going

What do those say for the most part? I skipped french class...

Murray told the reporter he will not buy out Greening or legwand and wants to attach them to Anderson or Lehner in a trade. 6-7 teams are interested.

I think thats what its says. I havent spoken french in years.

Legwand is not a boat anchor. He has one year on his contract and hes an ok bottom 6 center. Ottawa just has no need for him or his salary

I know we all love to hate on Legwand (myself included) but he's on the last year of his deal. I don't think he's as big of an anchor as some think. Greening on the other hand, yikes! Hopefully we can get Bickell out of Chicago or something for him, I anticipate he'll be on the team next year though.
