And that's exactly what I highlighted. How many players of that list I composed for the Leafs developed into top end talent?
Those usually come from top 5 picks or homerun picks(which are very rare) very few teams get true 1st line players outside of the first round.
but no it's been quite a while, Nylander however definitely has that potential, no reason to think other wise. Also Rielly is looking great and a top 5 pick this year is a blue-chip prospect. so after this draft, we'll have 3(would have had four if we kept seguin pick).
I'm not understanding some of the negativity in general here, we're finally building the right way, and we already have some nice pieces in the system that many teams starting a rebuild would want(i.e Rielly, JVR, Nylander, Bernier pieces of value in Phaneuf/Kessel/Bozak and solid b-prospects like Brown, Percy and Johnson developing nicely).
IMO we already have a better farm than EDM who has been tanking since 07-08, at least we tried to compete but just failed at it, yet we still have more late-round prospects panning out than them, they cant get a good pick outside of the first round.
