Will Samsanov go in the first? Considering putting a considerable amount down on sports interaction on the goalie prop.

There's some media mock drafts that are taking Samsonov in the early 20s (though at least one had Buffalo taking him... so with today's trade that one is definitely out)

I think I'd like to see us take Sandstrom with one of our seconds.

Man, 4 top 50 picks in a deep draft like this has me excited. If GMBM wants to move up I hope he packages a 1st with a 2nd + whatever to improve the pick, not two firsts for a better one. Drafting 2 first rounders and 2nd would restock our prospect pool big time.

I concur. I'd rather leave the room with 4 of the Top 50 than 2, and with our current prospect pool intact (Lazar, Prince, Puempel, Hoffman, etc).

The guys we need to move for anything are Greening, Neil, Smith, Phillips. Next level is Michalek and Cowen, maybe Gryba.

I hope they draft like this:

18. Best forward available
21. Best defenceman available
42. Best player available
48. Best player available

“In my eyes it's an exceptional draft at the very top (McDavid and Eichel), and an above-average draft if I look at maybe the top 10 players,” said one scout. “After the top 10 it’s pretty average.”

“Some first rounders more than likely won’t play a meaningful amount of NHL games,” said another talent evaluator. “A bigger number than you would think. Also, I don’t see a ton of guys with potential that you can get later in the draft - a bunch of players with not a lot of hope will be selected, more so than normal.”

I'll admit, I don't know much about any of them, tomorrow I'm gonna love someone new. However, I really want high end skill and with 18 and 21 now, I'd like to see the team hedge their bets on a couple of really skilled gambles. We have a lot of pieces, but top level skill is one we're lacking.

Going based on the team's draft history, I'm extremely confident that's exactly what they'll do: draft BPA with every pick.

I'm also confident they will turn out to be good players. More than just drafting, I think we've done a decent job at developing our prospects into the best they can be. Again, that's why I want to see us take some 'big swings'.

edit: barring injury problems *cough* cowen

It's all a crap shoot anyway

The way you determine who you are comfortable picking these days takes so much more than just what you do during a game

I don't buy the notion that this draft is mediocre after the top 10-12, not right now

It could turn out to be true, it might not. For the longest time this was going to be most amazing draft ever and now, closer to crunch time, you get the typical "it's not that good" people coming out and getting more attention

I would love Lawson Crouse. Guy plays his ass off every single shift.

For those that follow the 67's he's a more offensive Van Stralen who plays with a lot of grit.

That being said, I actually hope we don't move up. I'd love to get 2 first rounders, one D (Roy) and one F (Merkley).

Roy and Merkley would be a dream first round.

I have difficulty seeing the upside of Lawson Crouse. Why are draft specialists so high on him? Seems like a big body with average offensive ability. Tyler Biggs-esque.
