Future. 10 goal scorers don't excite me

Well the Leafs should hire you to run the draft table since you have his future figured out. We'd never draft a bust again with somebody who can tell the future that specifically. Somebody needs to tell Babcock and Dubas they dont know what the **** they are talking about when they talk about his importance.

I think everyone is warming up to Gauthier and what he will bring to our team now that we have Nylander, Marner, and Kapenen. When he's one of your most recent first rounders drafted with low offensive potential by a team with no star offensive prospects, it's easy to be frustrated. But now that we have some star potential up front...almost too much of it if Brown and Bracco continue to overcome the odds, I personally am thrilled with having a prospect like Gauthier and really appreciate what he can do and will hopefully do.

I think that's why he's shooting up the personal ranks of a lot of posters. Now they can sit back and objectively see what makes him such a good prospect because they're no longer fixated on the one asset he doesn't really excel in.

I think that's a fair point. I've been high on him since before we drafted him, and I think his upside gets underrated here, but that makes a lot of sense.

I don't think Babcock or Dubas would get so excited about a player they don't ever see making the NHL, or having an important impact. In all of my years watching interviews following prospect camps or main camps, I can't think of a coach or GM that has gushed over a player who didn't end up making it. People have to understand they see and know more than we do...they just do. It's why they are where they are.

For example, in the past I have always been more surprised that they haven't gushed over players that we all gushed over. None of the staff ever seemed excited about Stefanovich or McKegg after scoring 49 goals respectively, or DiDomenico tearing up the Q. Scouting staff and coaches see red flags as clear as we see 50 goals on the stat sheet...and they don't see any with Gauthier.

That tells me he is a great prospect! And this is coming from someone who always criticized that pick.

At the end of the day, I probably wouldn't trade (for the time being) a 2nd round pick for :

Marner
Nylander
Brown
Percy
Gauthier
Johnson
Bibeau
Finn
Bracco
Dermott
Harrington
Leipsic
Valiev
Loov

Lots of Assets, feels great man!

Playing on a line with Austin Matthews.... who did Kessel and Kane play with?

That's awesome, I can't remember if I'd known that for some reason. That should help Bracco fly under the radar, and getting the experience of playing with someone who projects to become a franchise player at the NHL level is invaluable. Seems like the American version of Connor Brown playing with McDavid.

You really have to be obsessed with point totals in order to not like Freddy.

A guy that can't crack ppg in the Q probably won't score enough to be more than a 4th line C... even if he's a good shutdown guy, you can't give too many minutes to a guy who's not going to put up points.

4th line PK specialists aren't that hard to find in UFA, and shouldn't be drafted in the first round.

...not that the guy I wanted, Shinkaruk, is doing much better.

Shinkaruk isn't doing that much better for someone that is all offence. Like at all. Not sure why you think so.

I'm curious how Gauthier will develop with the Marlies though. I've seen him a lot this year and was always impressed by him, even when he didn't put up a point. Always a top player for Rimouski in every game I've seen him. Dubas and the Leafs seem to agree. The scouts seem to agree. We'll see.

All that means nothing compared to my hockeydb scouting.

I loved that there were one or two games in the Playoffs where he was named one of the stars of the game without registering a single point. That's impressive.

I've felt for a long time that Gauthier can be the kind of player who gets better as he progresses to higher-level hockey. He's such a smart guy, I get the feeling that if he's paired with some talented scorers in the AHL, we'll see his offensive numbers climb.

Connor Brown only played with McDavid on the PP. 5 on 5 Brown was playing on the 2nd line with Dane Fox.

Bracco's attitude is what scared some nhl teams away from him not his talent

Bracco's rankins

22 Future Considerations
28 ISS
53rd Bob MacKenzie
54th hockey prospect. Com
60th NHL Central Scouting

And his skating. He's not overly fast for a smaller player.

Bracco McKeens scoring excerpts :

He is a agile skater who is shift ty not fast per say but lacks explosiveness at this point.
He has a dynamic offensive prowness
Has great hands, Terrific playmaker and stick handler

You cam't teach offense but u can learn power skating and defence
