If that was the case, he wouldn't have been on waivers to go to the AHL before the Wild bailed him out last season.
This season, he wouldn't have had to accept near league minimum after the start of free agency.
This guy went most of last year's offseason without even getting signed before the Blues finally inked him, and then wanted him in the minors after camp.
If Prosser was a legit bottom pairing defensemen, he wouldn't have settled for the first league minimum deal he was offered.
Fair points, but you have to be careful judging players by their contracts.
I am not arguing that Prosser is a great dman. I am not even arguing that I want him as the #6. My only argument is that Prosser would be the #6 on a lot of teams, so to say he isn't near that level of a player isn't fair. IMO
Spotty play here and there for the most part... he's fine with spotty play... he gets exposed by consistently being in the lineup.
He's a #7 who can play will when others are injured... you do not go into a season wanting him as your #6.
Every dman in the history of ever is going to show more flaws the more he plays. Also, doesn't seem fair to completely discount the teams record with Prosser in the lineup. Obviously he doesn't play a major role in helping them win, but if they are actually winning, he can't be hurting them too badly either.
Bottom line for me is, I agree with the bolded completely, I just think he's a better player than he gets credit for. Every team is going to have someone as their worst dman, if it's Prosser for the Wild, I'm ok with that.
