St Mary's is going to be ****.

I was watching ESPNU and they had the ACC coaches on discussing the upcoming season.

A major theme throughout this year is the implementation of several rule changes, including no coach timeouts (only players can call them), 30 second shot clock, and a very concerning "Freedom of movement" rule adapted from the NBA. Now I used to be a big NBA fan but when my boys in Detroit couldn't rough and tumble people anymore and Deeee-Troit Basketball was knocked off, then the game started to get less and less interesting IMO. A tap isn't a foul, boys. I grew up watching the Pistons, I grew up watching Big East basketball, I grew up watching physical play. That's basketball. Not 135-125 final.

So I'll always favor the college game over the pros. The boys play hard for the love of the game, the tournament's always a good thrill, and the coaches are great teachers, mentors, and personalities.

How UNC is still even eligible this season given all their academic fraud issues is beyond me. Most any other school would have been punished a long time ago.

Well that's easy but I don't even see them as a Final Four team. That team was a freak show and special. The tourney is a crapshoot but these rankings are all based on last year.

well, since Kentucky has been to the Final Four four times in the last 5 years maybe they were just playing the odds..:sarcasm:

Not sure what to make of this WVU team this year. No real star with Staten gone (though Williams is a beast) but this may be a group that's a better team then last years.

"Power" conference teams that lost to bad teams... Wisconsin, UCLA, Arizona State, Marquette, NC State, Georgia and Illinois...

Most of that isn't newsworthy to me but UCLA? That's embarrassing. Wisconsin? The same but at the same time they also aren't a power but under Bo have been consistently good. You wonder how good that team will be when he leaves. They also lost a lot. Wooden is probably rolling over in his grave.

All the focus is on Simmons (rightfully so) but Jamal Murray looked nice out there for Kentucky. He could be a top 5 pick.

Both of my teams won. Bama, in the wake of Avery Johnson's coming to the city, defeated Kennesaw State although it was tough to watch most of the time.

Purdue defeated North Dakota State.

So yeah, no upsets here.

Bama is playing Dayton tomorrow in Ohio. Not a huge deal expect the fact the game starts at 11 local here, which is noon there.

What the hell, I guess I'm going to have to try and stream the game from my iPad while at work.
