God, why can't we just call up Nylander instead of a that plug Clune? Give the kid a shot already. Enough of this "he's in the AHL for the whole year no matter what" crap. Or at least give Brown a shot.

Brown is injured

It is interesting or just disappointing that Leivo didn't get the call though. Hes played quite well and with it being Lupul out there is a opportunity to stick him in a position to play him in a good role.

Can Leafs just tell Lupul to pursuit his modelling career and just be LTIR like Horton.

So abandon their plan less than two months in the season?

When people ask me about the plan in Toronto.... I've often said the plan is not some unique plan that you won't hear 29 other teams say they have to do, which is draft, develop, patience. Make good choices. The challenge here in Toronto is not to come up with the plan. The challenge in Toronto is to stick to it. That's the hard part. Our vision is to indeed to draft and develop our own players. When a player is ready to come up, he'll come up. If a player needs more time to reach his full potential, we'll leave him down there. - Shanahan

Hope you can develop some patience.

Nothing to see here, just a tank rolling through

First, Nylander is where he belongs right now. Second, Brown has a broken leg. Do try to keep up.

Fitting Lupul in

The lineup has gone through some changes since winger Joffrey Lupul last played five games ago prior to his lower-body injury.

After a session with skating coach Barb Underhill on Thursday, Lupul rejoined the main body on a line with Nazem Kadri and James van Riemsdyk, though that lasted just 15 minutes before Lupul went to the dressing room early, as scheduled. Leo Komarov has hit it off as Kadri’s right winger of late, though Peter Holland and van Riemsdyk have changed places on Kadri’s left side.

“I was feeling all right today,” Lupul said. “You take 10 days off, there’s a conditioning aspect you have to get back, which truly doesn’t come until a couple of games in, because you can’t duplicate game (conditions).”

Is robidas really injured or just going on LTIR so the team is off the hook for his cap hit?

A little from column A, a little from column B

he had nagging injuries, sounds like it was holding him back from playing with the leafs, and the marlies didn't sound like an appealing option, so he'll collect his pay check for the next two years and call her quits after im sure

Spaling is becoming untradeable, poor production combined with a long term injury are most certainly an unfortunate set of circumstances. The silver lining is the 2.2M cap hit is now on the LTIR which may facilitate taking a bad contract at the deadline for a future asset.

toronto - goaltender garret sparks and forward nick spaling could be out for some time after injuries suffered in the toronto maple leafs' 5-4 overtime loss to the san jose sharks.

Sparks left the game with a lower-body injury and spaling an upper-body injury in the first period thursday night.

When asked if the players were day-to-day, babcock replied that it "doesn't look like it to me."

"it looks like they're long term," babcock said.

spaling suffered his injury off a faceoff in the game's first minute and never returned.
