Good for them. Far too many teams try to hold on until the bitter end. Now they have zero expectations and can just watch the growth of their young guys. Heck, even if it doesn't work, they won't know it for a few years.

True, but they could just keep those guys. Either way they are going to have a serious influx of talent in the next 2-3 years. They won't be bad for long... unless they Edmonton things.

They are up 2 1sts with a potential of a third and still have Halak, Moulson (who isn't a huge downgrade on how Vanek was playing) and Stewart (who is a similar player to Ott)

I don't think Edmonton's problem is drafting per se...it is having the 1st overall pick and refusing to consider that the best player may not fit their team (and that a trade might make sense).

Agreed, and if they end up whiffing they still have a bunch of high draft picks that are still useful.
