Thanks ravenclaw2099 you made my day. I've been wanting to get a good look at both the South Korean and Japanese teams for a long time. :)

So both Slovenia and Japan could still get promoted to the elite division if Japan wins against Hungary and Slovenia beats Austria.

Japan is in best position before last day, they have 95% chance to win promotion. Not just if they beat unmotivated Hungary, but even if they lose and Austria wins (in regulation) they get thru.
Austria and Slovenia i would say about 50/50.. Austria a bit more since they get promoted even if they win and Japan loses.

And Korea is out already.

Austria's lineup is a train wreck, they are a one line team. Not that Slovenia's lineup is great but it's better. Also, Slovenians had an upper hand in every match they played meanwhile Austrians had a really tight one against Ukraine and were lucky to escape with two points against Hungarians. So it's not 50/50, I'd say Slovenia definitely has an edge.

Lets hope so ;).

Numbers in my post above are ofc based on years and years of experience and watching every game in the tournament so far.. no, not really.. those numbers are just a rough estimate how i feel things are.. i think for a rough estimation they are okish.

Cant really go on details neither tbh.. i only watched half of one austrian game, but tbh im not extremly optimistic that we will win. the thing about Austria is that i got a feeling like they are just cruising along for half of the game and when it gets tough they switch in the higher gear and grab a win without much sweat. On top of that i think their first line is playing very good and its better than anything we can put against them at this moment.
On the other hand i feel that our team as a whole is better.. im especially happy with our 3rd line and wish we played a bit better so 4th line would get more opportunities to play. We are basically palying with a 3 lines whole tournament. I also think Gračnar is better in goal altho Starkbaum isnt half bad neither ofc. And Austria has an edge on special teams. Our PK wasnt really bad so far (except vs. Ukr ofc), but our pp is.. well.. bad.

And what is your point? Why are we talking about the 2007 U-20 championship? How is that relevant?

Italy has been a part of the A Pool/Elite tier for a number of generations.
Here are the number of Canadian and US trained players on each of those "Italian" teams in Pool A:
1982 (18), 1983 (16), 1992 (18), 1993 (16), 1994 (14), 1995 (14), 1996 (15), 1997 (13), 1998 (12), 1999 (11). 2000 (7), 2001 (11), 2002 (7), 2006 (6), 2007 (9), 2008 (9), 2012 (10)

And at the Olympics:
1984 (11), 1992 (17), 1994 (14), 1998 (14), 2006 (11)

This is why there should be a limit on naturalized players. Max 1 per team.

You are very welcome! Glad I could help, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for any further streams, though since both are playing against European teams it may be a little easier than usual :)

Was hoping to see Korea avoid relegation, but just going out on a win would be nice. Seeing Japan get promoted would also be fantastic IMO.
I'm sure we are all for the game of Hockey to garner an even more global audience!

Yes, a win of any kind will get them in. A loss of any kind will depend on the Austria/Slovenia match as they hold tie-breaker against Slovenia but not Austria.

If both Japan and Slovenia win in overtime it would be a 3-way tie in which case I think Japan would be 3rd because they have the worst goal differential.

In the case of them all finishing with 11pts, the direct match table looks like this...

Austria 4pts (3 from Japan, one from Slovenia)
Japan 3pts (3 from Slovenia, zero from Austria)
Slovenia 2pts (2 from Austria, zero from Japan)

Goal difference would only come into play should they have all finished with 3pts each, then you would probably be correct as Japan is at -2, Slovenia would have to really route Austria for them to switch.

Oh yeah, didn't consider the different head-to-head points. You're right of course, apologies.

It would be really good for the WC if Japan got promoted. Continentally spread out teams in a fair way, let's go!

Hungary doing a good job so far. 2-1 four minutes into the second period.

Edit: and 2-2 now from one of the few organised attacks of Japan in the second period.

Edit1: Unbelievable. Japan gets a PP and does nothing with the puck which was mostly played in their own zone, but somehow 11 seconds before the end of the PP they get the puck in the offensive zone and they ended up scoring somehow.
