I really hope Sather will focus on adding depth to our D. Offensively we are set.

Drew Shore is on the trade block.

He had a Stepan like college career in Denver, and has put up points while playing a solid two way game for a really good Denver team.

Maybe just a game of numbers in FLA since they have so many forwards on 1-way contracts, but he's currently being heavily scouted in the AHL according Eliote Friedman.

6'3" 210 RH shooting Center/Winger

FLA only has 6 viable NHL defensemen, and are occasionally forced to play Shane O'Brien who just cost them today's game against the capitals. Kulikov's contract is up after this year and he's played hardball in the past.

I would be game for a JMoore for Shore deal, but the timing is tough as it would leave the Rangers with 6 NHL D with a need already to add one more LD for the 3rd pair at this moment, and no one wants to be one injury away from Kostka.

Shore shores up the Rangers needs upfront if they feel his college game can transfer to the NHL. Kid can score too, and has finally matured physically. If he's like Fast, a young player that can be reliable defensively right away, I'd pull the trigger. If he can't be then he's not the guy. But he can be someone that fits the current need upfront to a tee

I don't mind this deal, but I do think the Rangers do need to add D also.

Drew Shore would be a very solid addition. If he's available for that cheap make the deal and then look to add a depth dman to replace Moore for now.

I would think they would be looking for something for significant back but he would fit this teams playing style very well.

Awwww so we aren't alowed to propose Tanner Glass for a 1st liner.

Is Tanner Glass for a conditional 7th considered outlandish and obscenely favor the Rangers?

I just put two and two together...

Hunwick and Miller I inexplicably scratched against the stars

Stars defense sucks

Stars want Glass

So what if they are doing something around John Moore and Tanner Glass plus some extras for a D and a 4th liner?

Who is on Dallas that doesn't really fit their mold of a team that also happens to fit ours?

I think Dallas is a prime trade partner starting with the glass rumors.

Well that 7th could turn out to be like Lundqvist and he's kinda elite, so I guess it's not allowed :sarcasm:

On Tlusty: Hurricanes want to re-sign him, and will try hard to do so. Defenseman Andrej Sekera, though, more likely to be moved by deadline

Sounds like Sekera will hit the market

I'd volunteer to fly over to NYC and giftwrap Tanner should this rumor turn out to be true.

Is all of this "Stars want Glass" stuff drummed up from RB's comment about them wanting him as a free agent?

I was actually drummed up by Michelletti stating that the Stars were heavily scouting him this past offseason... most likely for Vet depth...

I'm not actually sure why, because Dallas plays a speed game and Glass is the antithesis of that...

But its all good

Updated NYR roster & assets

Since Capgeek is out now (hopefully not permanent) I thought that this might be useful for people contemplating trades. Not 100% sure on the bonus money for 2015 as Miller is up now and Duclair is playing Juniors... but pretty close I believe...

More from Friedman. Boston spoke to the Blues about an Oshie for Eriksson trade. The Blues GM knows Loui from Dallas. I would rather have Oshie. At least one team inquired about Lucic. That's a tough deal because the player is owed $6M per for one more year. The game has changed. Can Lucic be as effective in the current game? Every player can skate and most of the teams want to play fast. Boston and Lou want to play the big and heavy game. Even the Blues under Hitchcock added more skill and are playing a faster game.

Vermette isn't worth competing over.

Sekera on the other hand...

According to Elliotte Friedman, Boston is really trying hard to land Vermette. That's the rumor circulating from the world juniors. http://www.nicholsonhockey.com/wort...s-coyotes-vermette-lucic-eriksson-blues-oshie

What are Boston going to do with Vermette? There's no way they can re-sign him, and he'll just be adding to a strength of the Bruins (their centers). He doesn't fill the need of goal scoring right winger, or defensive depth. Why waste the assets?

I'm really interested in Dwight King. Utility player that can play on any line, left wing, friggin huge, plays a hard two way game, and his advanced stats are superb.

Brooks mentioned a physical top 9 forward in his "crystal ball", Dwight King fits that mold to a "t".

I don't get the Vermette love. Certainly not worth getting into bidding war over.

Thought Brooks was right on in his column yesterday.

one of the best faceoff guys in the league and hes already got 25 points on the year. id like him but i wudnt offer what it would take to get him. other teams will be far more desperate to get him.

I think the versatility of being a center that can play wing is attractive as is his FO ability (a current team weakness). He's a solid offensive contributor, defensively responsible and an above average penalty killer.

I agree with not getting into a bidding war for his services, but he's above average at every aspect of the game aside from being a physical beast.

He'd be a solid addition. Just not at the expense of a bidding war.

Thinking about the issues facing the Rangers this off-season, I would that Hagelin is the player likely not to return. I agree with RB that Hagelin is likely to command a salary that the Rangers cannot afford. The development of Miller as a wing, with Duclair and Buchnevich knocking on the door makes Hagelin more likely to be moved. Plus, Hagelin is an RFA, so the Rangers still have his rights and has value as an asset.

Here's my question- could Hagelin get the Rangers a 1st round pick in the upcoming draft? Also, to piggyback on the McIlrath discussion, if he has hit the end of the road with this franchise, what does a Hagelin/McIlrath package bring back?

Would LA even move King? They are still competitive so i don't see why they would move him

Dwight King is not a top 9 forward. He isn't that quick either. The Rangers dont want to slow down their speed game, at least not for a Dwight King.

Vermette would be ideal but again not someone I would get into a bidding war over.

I wish we could pry Backes away from St.Louis.
