Predict what the roster will look like opening day against Boston

You can also guess point totals if you want

My predictions:

Holland uses common sense and doesn't re-sign Cleary

Re-sign Alfie to $3.5M/1yr deal

Franzen(50)-Weiss(35)-Nyquist(60)
Tatar(45)-Sheahan(40)-Jurco(35)
Abdelkader(25)-Helm(30)-Miller(15)
Glendening

Kronwall(45)-Smith(32)
DeKeyser(25)-Ericsson(17)
Quincey(12)-Marchenko(10)

If Alfreddson decides to retire, I'm afraid that you're correct. Abdelkader on the top line and Cleary even on the team is just plain wrong.

Like putting Quincey and Smith together despite awful results?

Babcock is getting a free pass as of late by far too many of you.

This is probably worse case scenario, don't think the roster could turn out much worse than that

C'mon guys. I'm as cynical as anyone here when it comes to Holland but I don't think he's oblivious enough to resign Cleary. I do fully expect to still see Andersson and Kindl though. Doing nothing and keeping them on the roster is a typical Holland move.

I think Alfie's as good as back.

Even if they signed Cleary, where's the room? I think Babs would play Miller and Glendening over him these days.

Yeah, Alfie is needed on the PP point. Cleary is not needed enywhere else than maybe Griffins. But they already signed two vets there so maybe that door is closed also.

We were all saying a week ago Holland isn't oblivious enough to re-sign Quincey. Not sure I have a lot of faith in him seeing the obvious.

If Cleary took Nyquist and Jurco's spots in consecutive years. Lol. I wouldn't even know where to start.

I just can't really see it happening and like I've said, I fully expect Alfie back anyways so that would mean Cleary would have to take someone else's spot.

Alfie back completely closes the door. I agree.

If he doesn't, I would be a little nervous.

We said the same thing last year and look how that turned out. I've since learned to just expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't happen. Easier on my liver.

True, but it was a borderline last minute call last year, and that was after he had a good playoff. This past season he showed absolutely nothing and spots have been taken. I'd say Bertuzzi has a better chance of being resigned.

I'm still amazed Kindl is on this team after being scratched in the playoffs for Ouellet. Hopefully it's just because Kenny can't get anything for him and he passes waivers. Don't see how a dreg team like the Oilers wouldn't want to take a chance on him though.

I will be optimistic and say Jurco and Alfie will be on the team for opening day.

I will follow up this optimism by saying one of Ouellet/Marchenko/Sproul will be in on the roster as well

People really think Cleary is going to be in the lineup to start the year?

I bet you said that last year too

it's Cleary, there's no getting rid of him

i'll assume he's back until he retires and even then i'd be dreading the inevitable mid-season comeback

our only hope is that when his legs eventually literally fall off hopefully the NHL bans him for his prosthetics
