United States Blue Edges Finland 2-1 - United States White Falls To Sweden 4-3 - USAHockey.com - Sunday, August 3.
http://www.usahockey.com/news_article/show/407395?referrer_id=752796

Lake Placid, New York - USA Blue pulled out a 2-1 victory against Finland today at the United States National Junior Evaluation Camp. Finland tallied midway through the third period, but Louie Belpedio (Skokie, Illinois/US National Under-18 Team) and Dylan Larkin (Waterford, Michigan/US National Under-18 Team) each scored in the final 5:03 to clinch the win for USA Blue.

Scoreless through two periods, Finland converted on an odd-man rush at 9:33 of the final frame. At 14:57, a loose puck skipped out to the top of the right circle, where Belpedio was waiting and fired it high into the net. USA Blue manufactured the game-winning goal with just over a minute to play. Tyler Motte (St. Clair, Michigan/University of Michigan) won a battle in the left corner to get the puck to Larkin, who swooped around the net and banked the puck off the goaltender and in.

The USA Blue goaltending duo of Brendan Burke (Scottsdale, Arizona) and Brandon Halverson (Traverse City, Michigan) combined for a .947 save percentage. Halverson was perfect in the first 30:29 of the game, stopping all 8 shots. Burke finished the game strong with 10 saves/11 shots.

Lake Placid, New York - USA White lost to Sweden, 4-3, in the opening international game of the United States National Junior Evaluation Camp. Sweden tallied twice in the first period and boosted its lead to 4-0 late in the second stanza. USA White fought back with a last-second marker in the middle frame and two goals in the third period, but could not tie the game in the final moments. Auston Matthews (Scottsdale, Arizona/US National Under-17 Team) lit the lamp twice for USA White, while Anthony Louis (Winfield, Illinois/Miami University) also scored.

Sweden grabbed a 2-0 advantage in the first period with goals at 7:46 and 10:28. In the second stanza, Sweden capitalized on the power play at 14:06 and buried a shorthanded goal at 18:35 to make it 4-0. Matthews put USA White on the board by banging in a rebound from the right side of the crease with 10 seconds left in the second period.

The third period saw Louis tally a power-play goal by slipping a shot inside the near post from the lower right circle at 2:27 narrowing the USA White deficit to 4-2. Nick Schmaltz (Verona, Wisconsin/Green Bay Gamblers) drew the assist. At 14:03, Matthews scored his second goal of the game when he deflected a Will Butcher (Sun Prairie, Wisconsin/University of Denver) blast out of midair between the goalie’s legs. JT Compher (Northbrook, Illinois/University of Michigan) picked up his second assist of the game on the power-play marker. USA White pulled its netminder in the final minute, but could not net the equalizer.

http://www.usahockey.com/news_article/show/407579?referrer_id=752796

Lake Placid, New York - USA Blue fell to Sweden 6-2, here today at the United States National Junior Evaluation Camp.

Sweden opened the scoring 9:10 into the first period on Adrian Kempe’s high wrist shot from just outside the left faceoff dot. At 15:37, USA Blue got on the scoreboard when Dylan Larkin (Waterford, Michigan/US National Under-18 Team) picked up the puck in the corner, curled back through the left circle and elevated a shot over the goalie’s glove. Taylor Cammarata (Plymouth, Minnesota/University of Minnesota) and John Hayden (Greenwich, Connecticut/Yale University) drew the assists.

Sweden regained the lead, 2-1, with a rebound goal by Leon Bristedt at 2:04 of the second stanza. Victor Olofsson then skated to open ice on the left wing and gave Sweden a two-goal lead at 7:32. Alex Tuch (Baldwinsville, New York/US National Under-18 Team) pulled USA Blue to within one, 3-2, on a strong individual effort at 13:49. Tuch grabbed the puck in the neutral zone, weaved through the neutral zone and snapped a shot under the goalie’s blocker from the right circle. Sweden expanded its lead to two goals yet again with 4:28 remaining in the second period.

USA Blue had multiple power plays in the third period, including two separate five-on-threes, but it could not narrow the margin. Sweden tallied twice in the final two minutes, the first into an empty net, to complete the scoring.

Lake Placid, New York - USA White lost to Finland 4-3 in the late game today at the United States National Junior Evaluation Camp. Sonny Milano (Massapequa, New York/US National Under-18 Team) had a goal and two assists.

Finland's Aleksi Makela made it 1-0 with a slap shot immediately following a faceoff win at 3:38 of the first period. The second period had USA White and Finland traded goals with the Finns striking first on a goal from Saku Kinnunen at 8:18 for a 2-0 lead. Three minutes later, USA White cut Finland’s lead in half when Connor Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey/Quinnipiac University) scored from between the circles off passes from Milano and Hudson Fasching (Burnsville, Minnesota/University of Minnesota).

With just under five minutes to go in the second period Finland answered with a goal from Kasperi Kapanen. USA White came back within one when Ryan MacInnis (St. Louis, Missouri) passed to Milano, who carried out of the zone, weaved around a couple Finns in the offensive zone and popped the puck past goalie Kevin Lankinen for a short-handed marker to end the period scoring at 19:44.

Finland doubled its lead again with a goal from Hannes Bjorninen 2:43 into the third. USA White drew within one again for the third time in the game on a power-play goal from Will Butcher (Sun Prairie, Wisconsin/University of Denver). Butcher carried the puck into the offensive zone, passed to Milano, and then went hard to the left of the net. Milano found Anthony Louis (Winfield, Illinois/Miami University), low on the right side, and Louis fed it across the net mouth back to Butcher, who tapped it in backdoor. USA White pulled its netminder with a minute remaining but could not send the game into overtime.

There are no games scheduled for Tuesday, August 5 - just United States, Sweden and Finland each having a 1 hour and 15 minute practice. (Sweden - 10:00 am ET-11:15 am ET. United States - 11:30 am ET- 12:45 pm ET - Finland - 1:00 pm ET-2:15 pm ET.) Game action resumes on Wednesday, August 6 - United States vs Sweden - 4:00 pm ET. Rest of the schedule - Thursday, August 7 - United States vs Finland - 4:00 pm ET. Friday, August 8 - Sweden vs Finland - 4:00 pm ET. OLOFSSON SCORES WINNER AS SWEDEN DROPS USA
Compher, Fasching & Florentino survive Tuesday's roster cuts

By Kris Baker - SabresProspects.com

With a round of cuts looming at the 2014 U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp, USA Hockey’s top U-20 players, including five Buffalo Sabres prospects, were given one last opportunity Monday to show that they are worthy of a deeper look from coach Mark Osiecki’s staff. Unfortunately for the Americans, it was their European visitors that stole the show.

** TUESDAY UPDATE (8:50 a.m.): With the split squad portion of the week complete, Sean Malone and Connor Hurley have been excused from camp as USA trimmed the 42-man roster down to 27 for the remaining three games. J.T. Compher, Hudson Fasching and Anthony Florentino remain on the USA roster. **

Florida Panthers prospect Ian McCoshen was part of a group of 15 players sent home from the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation camp on Tuesday.

NHL.com’s Adam Kimelman reports McCoshen was joined by fellow defensemen Michael Brodzinski, a Sharks’ prospect, Coyotes’ Connor Clifton and the Blues’ Thomas Vannelli. Additionally, blue liners Clint Lewis and Scott Savage were handed plane tickets home from Lake Placid, NY.

Forwards Taylor Cammarata of the Islanders, Connor Hurley and Sean Malone of the Sabres, the Rangers’ Keegan Iverson, Coyotes’ Ryan MacInnis, Canadiens’ Michael McCarron and the Blues’ Austin Poganski were also cut along with Ryan Hitchcock and Vinni Lettieri.

Thanks for posting the link to the FREE stream - now this is what USA Hockey should have done and not charge us $7.99 per game.

Update - 8:30 pm ET - Canada 3 Czech Republic 1 - End 2nd Period.

Update - 8:45 pm ET - Well I was able to watch the whole second period intermission - was fun watching the Zamboni go up and down the ice - LOL! Unfortunately 1:30 into the third period - the screen froze on me. I went to reboot the page and the stat page came up except for the video screen. I then came back here and clicked on the link above and got the same stat page but still no video screen. :(

Update - 8:53 pm ET - Canada leads 4-1 - Nick Paul - 3:32 - third period.
Update - 9:00 pm ET - Canada leads 5-1 - Haydn Fleury - power-play - 8:04 - third period.
Update - 9:05 pm ET - Czech Republic makes it 5-2 - David Pastrnak - power-play - 11:52 - third period.
Update - 9:13 pm ET - Canada now leads 6-2 - Frédérik Gauthier - 16:34 - third period.
Update - 9:20 pm ET - Final Score - Canada 6 Czech Republic 2.
Update - 9:22 pm ET - According to Kris Baker (@sabresprospects) - Sam Reinhart scored the sixth Canada goal thus giving him bookend goals since he scored the first Canada way back in the first period.

Tweets - Kris Baker - @sabresprospects - Canada vs Czech Republic.
Sam Reinhart sporting his familiar #23 tonight as CAN takes on CZE in Montreal. Ritchie (ANA) and Duclair (NYR) will be his wingers.
1:05 in - Reinhart takes a cross-ice feed and wrists it home for the goal. 1-0 Canada.
Reinhart winning his draws, looked very good on his first shift of PK work. CAN still up 1-0 on CZE with 4:29 left in 1st.
Gorgeous goal in transition by Anthony Duclair puts Canada up 2-0 with 9:51 left in 2nd. Turnover, speed, dangle.
Canada switches out Fucale for Jarry. First shot on goal by Vrana banks off Kampf and into the net. 2-1 CAN.
Ekblad stood up at the blueline by 5-11, 160+ pounder Lukas Klok. Ekblad skates off and goes to the room. CAN 5 CZE 2 with five to go.
Sam Reinhart pots his second goal of the night by patiently spinning to the front of the net to convert. CAN goes up 6-2 late 3rd.
Reinhart provides bookend goals as CAN cruises to a 6-2 victory over CZE.
Reinhart a steady, calming influence down the middle all game.

Tweets - Kris Baker - @sabresprospects - United States Cuts -
Fasching, Compher, Florentino survive NJEC cutdown as USA goes from 42 to 27 players. Malone, Hurley excused.
Good to see Florentino stick. He played a solid, steady game on Sunday.
Thought Malone had a good camp, but competition thick at forward. All four goalies remain.
For those asking - this is only an initial cutdown. Final roster decisions aren't made until December's camp.
Not at all shocked to see Eichel ('15) and Matthews ('16) remain. They have been two of the better forwards thus far.

Could watch him play all day long. Has always made a good play with the puck on his stick, in the right spot at all times, wins faceoffs... Making everything look easy. Can't wait until he gets stronger.

Just changed the username. Had to do it.

 We understand

Also if anyone can get highlights to the Canada game i would love to see em.

Camp Opener - Offence Shines - Canada Beats Czechs 6-2 - HockeyCanada.ca - Tuesday, August 5.
http://stats.hockeycanada.ca/game/show/7838017?subseason=165586&referrer=1253933&referrer=1253933

Montreal, Quebec, Canada - Canada got off to the start it wanted Tuesday at Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Summer Development Camp, using high-tempo hockey to top the Czech Republic 6-2 at Concordia University.

Anthony Duclair (Laval, Quec/Quebec, QMJHL), Frédérik Gauthier (Mascouche, Que/Rimouski, QMJHL) and Haydn Fleury (Carlyle, Sask./Red Deer, WHL) each recorded a goal and an assist for Canada. Sam Reinhart (West Vancouver, B.C./Kootenay, WHL), Curtis Lazar (Vernon, B.C./Edmonton, WHL) and Nick Paul (Mississauga, Ont./North Bay, OHL) were the other Canadian goal scorers. For the Czech Republic - Jakub Vrana and David Pastrnak found the back of the net.

With the Czech Republic having played Monday night - a 5-0 loss to Russia - Canada jumped on their European opponents early, with Reinhart finishing a cross-ice feed from Duclair just 1:05 after the puck dropped. Duclair stole the show on Canada’s second goal midway through the second period, storming through the neutral zone before deking the Czech Republic defender with a sensational move, dragging the puck from behind and through his skates. He then cut from the corner and snuck his shot through Vanecek’s five-hole.

Vrana and Lazar traded power-play goals in the latter half of the middle frame, keeping Canada up by two goals through 40 minutes. Canada owned the second period, holding an 18-8 advantage in shots. Canada’s lead was four after Paul and Fleury beat Vanecek, and after Pastrnak converted with the man advantage to make it 5-2, Gauthier capped the scoring with 3:26 left.

Zach Fucale (Rosemère, Que./Halifax, QMJHL) and Tristan Jarry (Delta, B.C./Edmonton, WHL) split the goaltending duties for Canada while Vitek Vanecek went the distance for the Czech Republic. Fucale stopped all nine shots he faced, while Jarry was five-for-seven in his 30 minutes of action. Canada outshot the Czech Republic 35-16.

Canada is back on the ice Wednesday in Sherbrooke, Quebec, taking on Russia - 7:00 pm ET while Czech Republic will take a two-day break from game action before taking on Canada again at Concordia on Friday - 12:00 pm ET. (LaxSabre - Czech Republic then heads over to Lake Placid, NY and plays the United States on Saturday - 1:00 pm ET.)

I watched some of this game and if Reinhart was #23, he had an assist on the 5th goal and scored the 6th goal and looked great. According to Kris Baker, he was wearing #23 and scored the last goal but the score sheet doesn't have him listed for that. Did anyone else watch the game and see this discrepancy?

No no you're right. Team canada has awful box scores.

Couple years ago they gave Wayne Simmons an OT goal in the gold medal game but he wasn't even on the ice. It's a mess.

Here is the Samson goal courtesy of Bakes.

I watched the last period and Reinhart was unbelievable. He just does everything right. He was the best player on the ice in all zones. He's not what I would call flashy, just uber efficient. Kind of reminds me of Drury with a little more skill.

I was also very impressed with Reinhart's intelligence in this game, which is par for the course at this point. There are a lot of players you watch and, from your view above the action, can often see what they should be doing that they haven't seen yet (being in the midst of the action).

Reinhart does things that you haven't even realized yet is the right play, regularly.

I'd also like to admit that I was wrong about taking Bennett before Reinhart. After watching Reinhart last night, I'm glad we got him.

Yep, this isn't a one time thing either. He was so dominant in the games I watched last year with the ICE. He doesn't excel at any one facet outside of his incredible play making ability. But he is above average at everything else. He makes those around him better. Hopefully him and Armia can get something going in the future. One playmaker and one sniper.

#Sabres' Sam Reinhart wants to focus on nothing else but making Canada’s world junior roster: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/juniors/sam-reinhart-focused-only-on-making-team-canada/

"I’m here this week trying to give myself the best opportunity to make the team," said Reinhart, who scored in Canada’s 6-2 victory over the Czech Republic on Tuesday. The game was the first of four exhibition matches involving the Russian and Czech national junior teams.

"It’s gone well so far," added Reinhart. "It’s always tough for a lot of the guys coming in during the summer. After the first two practices, things have really started picking up. There are always going to be a few more mistakes now than when December comes, but we’re aware of that, and we’re battling through that."

Are the Canadian games on TSN?

Edit: It appears so. Does anyone have one of those 24 hour TSN streams handy? Can't seem to find one in my bookmarks right now.
