Myers was paid $12M as a huge signing bonus of $10M. That's Pegula money talking and wanting to lock-up their (supposed) franchise defenseman for a long time at a very reasonable cap hit of $5.5M. That Myers regressed couldn't have been foreseen, and I still think he'll turn things around and be worth his cap. He's not right now. It was a smart move to make and helped show their new identity, that they were committed to spending and doing what it took to become an ideal destination. To be relevant. Ehrhoff (along with Regehr) were also part of that. Hoff's contract is way too long, definitely, but that's what it took to get him to Buffalo. He's been great for them so far and he has a few good years left I believe. His cap hit is small for what he brings to the table. Leino is just a mystery. That was silly. He'll be bought out I'm sure... and maybe Ehrhoff as well due to the length of the contract with the new CBA rules.

Either way, Regier isn't an idiot. He's a GM who has made a few mistakes here and there (like they all have...) but nothing massively crippling to the team.

Putting a capable player in your lineup "smacks of stupidity" ? I call it invaluable experience at the highest level... Did you watch him play? Seriously, I'd stick Myers in my bottom four then, now whenever. .. Let's not exaggerate..

I like this for the most part. Couple of notes:

- Asham is under contract for another season.
- Vigneault would be my second choice, but I'd be content with him — Eakins is my #1

1) Damn. I don't know. Doubt another team will take him. He could be 13th/14th forward for the first half of the season.
2) I don't know much about Eakins. What I do know is that we need experience. Eakins could turn out to be a stud in the NHL, I don't know. We were 1 step away from Stanley Cup last year. We have the pieces. When the team was energized and healthy this year, it was incredibly hard to beat them this year. Thing is (and part of why Torts probably got the boot) is that he couldn't motivate them anymore. You need experience in that room, Eakins has none in the NHL. He's a guy you bring in when your team is up and coming/rebuilding, not a guy you risk your franchise and shot at the SC (only legit one since '94).

Vigneault, i'm split on Tippet and Ruff. Would love Laviolette if he's fired.

provides grit toughness younger than Boyle.. Rangers can shop Boyle for more depth or move him to the wing... Rangers need to upgrade their bottom lines. trading for Dorsett helped a little.. personally id start Lindberg on the 3rd with Boyle on the wing.. Boyle plays better on the wing.. let him take the important faceoffs...

Only problem is, we traded our FLA 3rd in a package of picks for Ryane Clowe.

Rask and Horton easily bust that 6.66.

That said, that total amount of 58.3 includes the LTIR of Savard.
