I wanted Jones then and I still want Jones now. However, would Jones be the same if he developed under our organization compared to going from Nashville to Columbus? Definitely a "what if" situation, but I don't know if he would've been this good as he's showing as a Blue Jacket. Overall, I picked Nathan because I still have some faith in MacKinnon.

Definitely a "what-if" scenario. He got the luxury of playing under (and learning from) Shea Weber. Here, it would have been Erik Johnson. Big difference.

Ultimately, I always thought Jones would become a legit top-pairing guy but now he looks like a franchise anchor back there who will be a legitimate #1 for years to come. If he was here, god only knows. Maybe he develops slide-syndrome like EJ.

I still think MacKinnon still could be the better player but as of this season the choice is Jones.

Dat bump. But anyone who seriously thinks the Avs should have drafted anyone but MacK at this point should just go find a different team to cheer for.
