Is having Bozak on 4.2m as a 3rd line centre, with Kadri probably wanting more, and then potentially Kessler or Stastny on 6m+ realistic cap space-wise though?

Add around that...

If they add a #1c that's at least around 6mil
+ resign bollaand, gardiner, kulemin? Then Kadri, bernier

And still need to add a top 4 ifnot top pairr dman

Lupul is great but with his history I think Hes becoming the odd man out...especially if nonisi isnt trading youth

Wasn't he just deemed a core piece and a potential future captain as early as last season?

What have you done for me lately, right?

Yes. Cap is going up 7 mill and Kessel and Phaneufs raises are covered by buyouts coming off the books. Basically we have the opportunity to add a hard 7 mill to the current team (obviously not counting raises of other players).

Bozak will never play on the third line in Toronto because we will never acquire a top-end centre through a trade.

Im not against trading Lupul but not for a soon to be UFA.

If the Leafs picked up Stastny they wont be able to re-sign Bolland. Where would he even play with Bozak and Kadri under contract?

Adding a top 4 defenseman, preferably right handed is the kind of return we should be looking at if Lupul is going the other way.

If we do trade Lupul, (I am not a fan of trading Lupul), I would look to bring in at least a #3Dman.

Then sign Stastny in the Offseason

JVR-Bozak-kessel
Kadri-Stastny-clarkson

Why move kadri to wing?
He is being developed as a top 2 C and we should move him? I rather develop kadri than sign stastny

I think Kadri out on the wing takes away so much of his game. In centre he can go both ways and is unpredictable. Granted, sometimes it results in dangerous giveaways, but I think you'd lose so much creativity sticking him on the wing.

He's only going to get better as a centre by playing there and making the mistakes he does.

JVR - (Stastny) - Kessel
Lupul - Bolland - Clarkson
Leivo - Bozak - Kulemin
D'amigo - Mcclement - Bodie

Gunnar - Phaneuf
Gleason - Rielly
Gardiner - (Kadri trade)

Bernier
(Back-up)

- Trade Kadri for a similar age/potential D-man. (I love the kid, but with this center depth, we could use the value he has to upgrade a position of need)
Something like Kadri and a 1st for Bogosian.
- Trade Franson for anything

- I'd sign Stastny to $6.5 x 7.

Make it happen!

I've been saying we should go for Ladd for a while. People don't see it right now, but this team needs consistent secondary scoring/toughness.

Lupul has been everything but consistent and is not a good defensive player.

What your are not putting into proper context is what it would take in assets to GET Ladd.

He will not come cheap.

That lineup looks worse then what we have currently.

Also, Bozak is better then Stastny defensively, and Bozak is also scoring at a higher pace then Stastny as well.

Umm please, your are not seriously trying to suggest that TB is better then PS, are you?

Lets see what PS can get as a UFA compared to what TB got, that should give you a bit of measure.

At what they currently are they are definitely equal. However, Statsny will make more due to his past 70/80+ point seasons

Should DN pursue PS to the point where we get him as a UFA,hrmm, well, that's a tough call.

The only asset lost is cap space , that's a plus.

Would RC consider running 3 scoring lines?

Something tells me that it's going to come down to a Bolo 4.2m+Kuli 3.5m or Stast6.0m + Kamo 2.0m , for role/cap space.

I could live with either combo.

Oh IDK about that, look I have gained much respect for what TB has done this season but PS is still the better, all around player.

I hope you will get a better understanding once PS inks for 6+ this summer.

PS : PS won't get 6+ because he had 70/80p in the past, he will get it because he has had 70/80 p in the past and looks like he can reproduce that in the right environment.

He is not getting Olympic PP time because their coach's are stupid.

I'd think it would be good to have our top 3 Cs to be

TB
PS
NK

Fit in Lups/Clark with either NK or PS and run 3 scoring lines with a 4th line that is a strong checking line ,sans goons.

If you can add a PS without losing assets, that's a good thing.

Cool story but that has nothing to do with my post.

Also, cool story that we're pencil NK in as our new 3rd line C after what 2 games? Bolland over Kulie 10 times out of 10 for me. Especially considering offensive abilities and likely contract demands.

Only people with no story use "cool story".
