It looks like the love-in for Queen's has finally fizzled off.

Surprised at the first place vote for UNB - they're not playing 'head and shoulders' above everyone else. At least not yet.

If these rankings hold true - the CW winner will be in Pool A with the OUA-Runner-up and OUA-Wild-Card while Pool B will be AUS-Champion, OUA-Champion (if you can call one game a real measure of a champion) and USask

Cannot understand why Lakehead continues to get love each week; 4-3-1 in the second half, 19GF 26GA, and 2 losses in the first half to UOIT, a team with a 4-14-3 record against non-Lakehead opponents. Just don't get how they are still ranked.

In the first half I was thinking the OUA would be a footnote at the Nationals this year. But UQTR is rolling. In the second half they are 7-0 (11 straight wins overall) and in the second half have 42GF 13GA. They seem to have risen to the top - their game against Carleton in two weeks should really give a good sense of how far they have come.

UNB is still not the consensus #2 - someone is holding out either for Acadia or Calgary. 1x10+16x9=154. Not sure how you lose a #1 vote when both the #1 and #2 are on a bye-week?

Odd things happen during playoffs. Last year Manitoba and Calgary finished the regular season in the Top Ten. They lost semi-final series to Alberta and Saskatchewan, who were higher-ranked Top Ten teams. (Manitoba lost 2-1 to Sask and Calgary lost 2-0 to Alberta.) They both fell from the Top Ten. IMO this is done to ensure that the teams contending for OUA berths in the nationals finish somewhere in the rankings.

i have lost interest in these blogs mainly because it seems the only ones who ever chime in on this site or the vreds site are those trying to influence the flawed top 10 because they have a vote (or I am assuming they do)....why else such a narrow perspective, and protect their boys( AB UNB)
the # 1 ranking is huge every year because u avoid both the OUA and AUS/CW league champions. the pool is always the AUS?CW runner up and the OUA runner up. while the other pool has two league champions and the host.
It really is a joke the way everyone chimes in with little perspective on what a great league the CIS is
instead we hear Stauffer talk about a new fitness guy....for the bears not him and look out it is the best team since Mac T or Drummer and Foyle answering back regarding the Vreds.

loved the Olympics (FRESH!) and am glad the Jets are back at it! hey how about our Blue Bombers! going for it!

I do not vote on the CIS Top Ten. I don't need a vote. I have the OHT36. IAE, I have the Monkeys and Squirrels solidly at 1 and 2 myself.

Over the past 5 years, there have only been 13 different teams out of 30 possible invitations (more like 26 invitations as hosts get a repeat spot). There are on average 3 returning teams each year from the previous tournament, so I can see how it looks like the same old thing each year. Only MAN, Waterloo and Calgary are noobs which is not a lot of 'new' blood over the past 5 years.

If newness is what you want, those with the longest droughts would produce this:

On the one hand, some of those teams would be nice to see but in the end I think most want to see the big names. I'd sooner see one of the newcomers have a really good regular season so that they are ranked with UNB and Alberta all season long. That would create more interest IMO.

With UNB, UQTR, and Waterloo all out there will be at least 3 new entries this year. I think SMU will be in tough against Acadia so I could see just Alberta/Sask. being repeat entries.

Western, another common participant, is also out now so this year might see more 'newness' than in the past little while.
