What counts when 2 teams have the same points?
The winner of the game against each other or the team who scored more goals in the tournament?

First tiebreaker is the head-to-head matchup. Then it goes by goal differential.

So, chances for Belarus are getting really slim. They need to win both remaining games in regulation while Norway wins both remaining games in regulation as well, thus creating a three-way tie with Germany. And that isn't all, Norway would have to win against Germany by the score of 1-0 or 2-1. If the goals differential gets larger, Norway moves past Belarus, if it ends 3-2, 4-3, etc. Germany gets past Belarus based on head-to-head or more goals scored.

Unless Slovenia manages to get atleast a point against Norway, the last game of the tournament should decide promotion.

yeah, the odds for Belarus are getting really slim

meanwhile it seems Poland is gonna lose to Italy. If that were to happen, a France win tomorrow would geet them promotion. A Kazakhstan win would not get the Kazahk`s promotion though, they would probably need something out of their match with Italy to get it, that or win a 3 way tiebreaker

Not looking good for us British. We have to hope Austria lose their next game heavily and we beat them to go ahead. Would be crippling to be relegated.

All you need Austria to do is not win in regulation, even if Austria wins in OT/SO and you beat them on the final day, the tie breaker goes to you. Unless you want Belarus to win heavily just to help break the spirits of the Austrians but I bet if Austria finds itself down early they pack it in to save energy.

Norway vs. Germany should be (hopefully) a thriller. I wish we hadn't ****ed up against Belarus, but it happens.

Will Germanys great goal-differential have anything to say, or is it just the games between the three teams that are tied in points (IF Norway beats Germany)?

Goal-differential in direct matches only, Germany GD against the other countries dont matter.

Step 2:
Should the teams still remain tied then the better goal difference in the direct games amongst the tied teams will be decisive.

Croatia currently up 3-1 against Italy. A Croatian win would be a huge upset. However I guess the Italians already lost their motivation since France has been promoted.

If Croatia wins, tomorrow's game (where they face Japan) might decide who gets relegated from Group I B. Japan - Poland is later tonight, and neither Croatia nor Japan had any points before today's games began.

nice win for Croatia over Italy :yo: Does this mean they are safe or do they still have to beat Japan? Staying in Division 1B would be huge for the team.

The Croatia team arctually has a few exciting prospects, with even 7-8 of them playing abroad. The best prospects seem to be Borna Rendulic (Assat Pori), Marko Sakic (KAC Klagenfurt)

Croatia has a decent future for their standards, not saying they will compete in the World Championships anytime soon, but I think the program is slowly improving thanks to Medvescak Zagreb in the EBEL and eventually some Croatian-Canadians/Americans/Europeans will be eligible for play for the NT which will help a bit

Assuming Japan loses to Poland today... Croatia would still need at least a point in tomorrows game to avoid relegation. A regulation loss would result in them going down on the tiebreaker

Japan defeats Poland, but it was in overtime. That means Poland is safe for another year, while tomorrows game between Japan and Croatia decides who stays in Group B and who plays in Division IIA next year. Worth noting that they play in the early game, which may give Croatia an advantage, what with Japan playing the late game and having it go to overtime. The fact that Italy might have not cared against Croatia, while Poland was determined to not play for relegation, might also factor into the game. It will be a good finish regardless.

A little unlucky for Croatia but tomorrow is a day off, the match is on Sunday.

You're right. I was reading that quickly and thought it said Saturday.

That makes everything I said meaningless. Still should be a close game though, there doesn't seem to be a clear better team between the two.

Gutted, absolutely gutted. Nothing but a backwards step for us and we really need to be looking at how this group of players performed so badly. We'll get to the top one day but we need some radical changes.
