Top Six something like this

Purcell -Stamkos - St Louis
Malone - Lecavalier - Brown / Panik

I think Garon gets too worn out and Tik comes up..

Malone - Stamkos - Purcell
St.Louis - Lecavalier - Connolly
Pouliot - Killorn - ?
Pyatt/Tyrell - Thompson - Hall/Crombeen

Hedman - Carle
Brewer - Lee
Aulie - Salo

One of MAB/Mikkelson, make your choice, both are just awful.

Lindback
Garon

Connolly has been consistent all year long and furthermore, he knows the system well which makes him a perfect complement to the top9. Aulie is likely subject to waivers...not sure if he'll be with the big club this season.

I could see the lines being like this. I'd flip the sides Hedman and Carle play, but that's a nitpick.

I'd spread the scoring a little and give Vinny chance to work with St. Louis. Stamkos can create his own chances and his got Purcell anyway.

Malone in the top6 too and give the last spot for anyone who deserves it.. will be tough battle for that spot.

I'm little worried about third line. Seems like the best options might have two rookies there, which isn't optimal imo.

A comeback of Dominic Moore wouldn't hurt. Any news on his wife's condition and whether he plans on playing again?

This, but I'd put Hedman with Salo and Brewer with Carle. Would be safer that way:p:

So excited :yo:

Well, I don't recall seeing Moore in any B reel footage or mentioned during the lockout as one of the guys in NY and he is the Sharks player rep.

He's been tweeting, so I suppose that's good?

This whole thread is surreal.

I think Conacher is getting left off because while he could qualify for a depth spot, it likely means he doesn't get the minutes he needs.

Funny that nobody has even mentioned Wilson. He's on the one-way deal...

Oh, yes. The forgotten man.

I hope the camp is cutthroat, but I could see coming out of it:

Pouliot-Stamkos-Purcell
Malone-Lecavalier-St.Louis
Conacher-Tryout-Crombeen
Tyrell-Hall-Thompson
Pyatt

Hedman-Carle
Brewer-Salo
Mikkelsson-Lee
Bergeron

Lindback
Garon

the tryout guy is the spot up for grabs. The return of Dominic Moore, Wilson, Tyler Johnson, Killorn, maybe even Namestinkov (depending on how everything goes).

A practicality that's going to play a part is that the Lightning TC would be running during the AHL season, and between now and Jan 19th, the Crunch have 4 games. (Jan 9th, 11th, 12th, and 18th)

That's pretty inconvienient as they'll be playing during what's believed to be start of camp (Jan 9-11)

And given that both seasons with Guy Boucher have started off slow, due to the beginning of the season functioning as an extended training camp, we may be a world of hurt. There simply aren't the games to be messing around.

I'm on board with bringing back Moore, just to play it safe. You know what you're going to get out of him at the NHL level.

It also hedges against anyone else flopping, as the impact of that should be lessened by having Moore, who makes his linemates better. Failing Moore, maybe Wilson.

The way to look at this team isn't the same as when we came out of the last lockout. Missing a whole season actually made things easier. You've got to look at the 94-95 season and how the winning rosters were constructed then. SFY likes to take his time with making trades. This is not the season for that.

Of course, I have faith in SFY as his DRWs were the best team in that lockout shortened season, although they lost to NJ in the final.

Still so thrilled that there will be an opening night that I can't think lineups yet. I honestly thought the entire season was toast.

If there are 'warm up' game/games I wonder how much the lines might change.

albatross - Agree so much, thinking about lineups even a few days ago seemed like wishful thinking.

I'm still in shock...

Purcell - Stamkos - St. Louis
Malone - Lecavalier - Connolly
Conacher - Killorn- Pouliot
Tyrell - Thompson - Crombeen
Hall

Hedman - Brewer
Carle - Salo
Lee - Aulie/Mikkelson
MAB

Lindback
Garon

Brown's injury should open then door for Conacher and/or Killorn. If one of them can't grab a spot, I'd expect either Wilson or Wyman.

Can somebody explain me a few of your opinions :help: :)

Why should Wyman get a spot I think there are a lot better guys in SYR and we already have some good grinders: I would prefer Labrie on the 4th over Wyman.

Next one is Tyler Johnson: He isn't the hottest guy in SYR right now but over the season he was the most consistent scorer.

I think as well that Conacher could use some more time in the minors to get out of the cold streak.

Why do some of you don't mention Aulie, now way SY will risk losing him on waivers

I think the guys coming up are Connolly and Killorn, so my lineup would look like this:

Malone - Stamkos - Purcell
St.Louis - Lecavalier - Connolly
Pouliot - Killorn - Pyatt/Tyrell
Pyatt/Tyrell - Thompson - Hall/Crombeen

Wilson, Hall/Crombeen

Hedman - Brewer
Carle - Salo
Lee - Aulie

Mikkelson, MAB

Lindback
Garon

I expect that Riku and Tic will both get a chance to shine in the NHL this season and to know if one of them is ready to play backup next season.

It wouldn't surprise me if MAB gets traded after camp or if we don't make the playoffs on trade Deadline, because of Carle and Barberio.

Seriously doubt Wyman will be playing in the 3rd line while Conacher is being benched.
Surprised all of you seem to think Conacher needs more time in the A
Yeah, my 3rd line is far from perfect. I'd love to have a guy like Moore somewhere in there. And for opening night I think Boucher will go with a "role player" like Wyman who has some NHL experience and knows the system instead of a guy with great potential but who hasn't played a single NHL game.

I put Conacher in brackets for my opening night lineup. I could definitely see him getting called up sometime during the season. It all depends on the overall situation (losing streak, injuries) and even the opponent. Also, we all know that Yzerman doesn't want to rush his prospects.

As for Connolly: What's better for him? Top-6 minutes and TOI with the 1st PP in the AHL or sheltered minutes on the 3rd or 4th line and maybe a little time on the 2nd PP unit in the NHL again? If management had the possibility to send him to the AHL last season I doubt he would have played even a single NHL game.

In interviews both Cooper and Brett have said how good it is for him to be a go-to guy for his team again instead of being a borderline 3rd or 4th liner who's losing confidence with every further step he takes. Sure, working out and training with the pros is great but I think he can learn and progress a lot more in a full year in the AHL.

As for Labrie, I like him a lot but there is absolutely no chance he will make the team over Wyman. JT brings way more to the table. He has already showed terrific foot speed, admirable work ethic and ability to be a regular PK guy. Can't finish, though. If only he was a faceoff specialist like Hall...

Would be cool of we could get Conacher or Panik up for a few games. Those guys need to get some NHL experience.
