Is Calvin Pickard Better Than Chet Pickard ?
Is Louis Boileau-Domingue Better than Calvin Pickard ?
How good do you think Matt Hackett will be ?

Calvin vs. Chet Pickard

Chet's numbers at 17:

29GP - 17W - 10L - 1OT - 2.85GAA - .903 SV%

That year, the Tri-City Americans finished second in the US Division.

Calvin's numbers this year (also 17):

35GP - 11W - 18L - 6OT - 2.80GAA - .921SV%

Seattle is, at the moment, in last place in the US Division and second last in the conference.

Calvin is less of a butterfly goaltender than Chet but I'd attribute that to the height difference (Calvin is shorter). I'd say he's got better upper body reflexes and is more fundamentally sound but Chet has better lateral movement.

Louis Domingue vs. Calvin Pickard

They play differing and complimentary styles, they're both extremely skilled, so why not take them both? I will say this, I want to see if Domingue fluorishes under Patrick Roy's tutelage or if he buckles under the pressure of having a coach who's a top 3 goaltender of all-time.

Matt Hackett

He takes away the bottom of the net probably better than any goaltender in junior hockey. Some very good athleticism, a lanky kid who has very quick lateral movement, even though said movement lacks technical proficiency.

So from what I understand is that Calvin is kind of a hybrid goalie who is tough to beat high but has trouble with one timers and i geuss wrap arounds while Chet is quick im geussing that Calvin is better at this age.

So Hackett's a Butterfly goalie and won't give up on the play but can be beat by bad angle shots ?

And you feel that Domingue and Pickard are on the same level.

I think you'd have to be pretty quick on the wrap-around to beat Calvin Pickard, but it would be fair to say that Calvin is more vulnerable to it than Chet.

I've seen Hackett get beat by some off angle shots, particularly to the short side.

Assuming the following are in the NHL: de Haan, Seguin, Hall, Schenn, Ashton

Eakin-Skinner-Connolly: Scoring line 1
Werek-Leblanc-Glennie: Scoring line 2
Beck-Hishon-Anthony: Shutdown unit
Clifford-Pirri-Ferraro: Energy line
Holland

Cowen-Ellis
Roussel-Olsen
Gormley-Gudbranson
Elliott

Roy
Pickard

Forwards

WHL

Brett Connolly: If he doesn't hurt himself in some way, he'll be a favorite heading into camp.

Landon Ferraro: Needs an extremely strong next twelve months to undo the bad will he generated this year. However, he has the base skills to be an important addition.

Cody Eakin: I feel he should have been on the team this year. His speed would have given us some sort of answer to Team USA.

Scott Glennie: See above. Can play both special teams units and be an offensive threat because of his top-notch acceleration.

OHL

LW Ethan Werek: Along with getting faster, being big- but not stupid- is always beneficial. Werek would give defenses hell.

LW Taylor Beck: See above

C Peter Holland: Holland needs to pick his game up but I can see TC bringing him in a Luke Adam-type role.

C Jeff Skinner: Despite being a smaller player, has all the intangibles, skill and speed to make an impact like Eberle or Kozun this year.

C Joey Hishon: Ditto.

LW Kyle Clifford: I think he's a lock to make it. TC has brought a Della Rovere/Tootoo type every year and he's the perfect fit.

QMJHL

RW Steve Anthony: I think he'll be a strong contender for Caron's spot. Big, strong forward who can shut down opposing offenses.

NCAA

C Louis Leblanc: Another extremely fast forward, but this one happens to play like a cannon ball on skates. Love his game.

C Brandon Pirri: My darkhorse pick for an energy line role. Tons of jam and loves to play in traffic.

Defense

Jared Cowen: A returnee and as much a lock as it gets.

Ryan Ellis: See above.

Dylan Olsen: Team USA wasn't afraid to attack with their speed because they knew they weren't going to have answer the bell physically from the D. Olsen will make players afraid to enter the zone.

CO Roussel: See above.

Erik Gudranson: Not quite as mean as one might like but he'll be a steady presence.

Stefan Elliott: Ellis got stronger defensively as the tournament went on, so there may be room to bring along another powerplay specialist. Elliott is one of the best in the CHL.

Brandon Gormley: Will occupy de Haan's role as a two-way player that bridges the gap between Cowen and Elliott.

Goal

Olivier Roy: Since the medal streak began they've primarily stuck with two 19-year-olds in net. I don't like that strategy but Roy will probably be the best '91 in the country next year- he gets sort of lucky in that Hackett and others are late '90s.

Calvin Pickard: Hopefully he's an exception to the rule like
Bernier was.

I wonder if the mobile Simon Despres will be considered? Does anybody have a scouting report on Riley Sheahan?

Sheahan is an incredible physical specimen. I've never seen a player his age rag-doll collegiate defenders before, but they'll send two or three guys to take the puck off him and he just shrugs them off. If he can't physically shake his coverage he'll deke the puck around them.

Extremely, extremely quick for his size in tight, and his skating isn't too bad when transitioning from zone to zone.

Great playmaker. Sort of like Hemsky in how he can thread passes with incredible precision on the powerplay, but he operates more from around the back/side of the net.

Good although under-utilized shot. Excellent release.

To me, personally, the kid screams Jeff Carter. He's inside my top ten no question.
