No, they are overemphasized due to the love affair some fans have with Corsi. Goals count, shots really don’t, other than with extrapolation that doesn’t work out with any regularity. There are lots of ways to enter and exit the puck, and defending entries, not just the one that boosts your favorite stat.

Cant score goals without shots. You allow shots you get scored on. Also- corsi? That stat isn’t use as widely as it once was. You do know zone entries are a measured stat right? You must also know GF and xGF are stats that are measured right? Russell is so bad he drops McDavid’s offense significantly. This is also a measured stat.
