Don't think the Habs ever offered 6M x 6 to Danault. If they ever did that, Danault would have signed. Hearing only 5M x 5.

I could be wrong.
I thought there was at least one 6 on either the $ or the term.
Thanks for clarifying.

Either way, NY should not sign long term and IF PD does want top $, while there is risk, 7.25 x 1 is a nice stopgap for both player and team.

Maybe Treliving can swindle NY into believing Monahan is a two-way centre and take Buchnevich off your hands in the process :naughty:

Probably too expensive, we already overpaid Goodrow.

Also It'd be nice with a real 2nd liner.

Danault is ideally more of an upper echelon 3rd liner/2nd line tweener on a future contending team.

So reaching the Stanley cup finals isn't a contending team...

Danault is a really good 2C. HFers only check goals and points. Preventing goals is as important as scoring some. If he produced 30-40 pts but can shutdown elites player on the other team like he did in the playoff, and prevent X amount of goals, the net goal difference is in your favor.
just some 2021 playoff facts :
- Danault limited the top 3 goal scorers of the regular season of each opponents teams during the playoff to a combined total of 5 goals...
Regular season Playoff
Auston Matthews 41 goals in 52 games... 0,78 Goal/G1 in 7 games... 0,14 Goal/G
Blake Wheeler15 goals in 50 games... 0,30 Goal/G0 in 4 games
Kyle Connor26 goals in 56 games.... 0,47 Goal/G1 in 4 games 0,25 Goal/G
Nik Ehlers21 goals in 47 games...0,45 Goal/G0 in 4 games
Max Pacioretty24 goals in 48 games... 0,5 Goal/G1 in 6.......
[TBODY] [/TBODY]
Mark Stone 21 goal in 55 games... 0,38 Goal/G0 in 6 games....
Marchessault and tuchboth 18G in 55 games....0,33 G/Gboth 0 goal in 6 games
Mitch Marner 20 goals in 55 games....0,4 Goal/G0 in 7 games
Braden Point23 goals in 56 games... 0,41 Goal/G0 in 5 games
Steven Stamkos17 goals in 38 games.... 0,48 Goal/G1 in 5 games ... 0,20Goal/G
[TBODY] [/TBODY]
Yanni Gourde 17 goals in 56 games ... 0,30 Goal/G 1 in 5 games ... 0,20 Goal/G
[TBODY] [/TBODY]
Total average : 261G/623Games = 0,42 G/Games 5G/65Games ... 0,077 G/Games
net difference : 0,34G/G
- During the playoff, Danault was a big part of the reason why Montreal only allowed 5 PPG in 66 PK (92,42% PK)

Those stats aren't coincidence....

I know, Danault ain't the guy that you'll see replays in the highlights on TSN. He's not flashy, not offensively gifted, but his abilities are as valuable as being on the scoresheet.
If he produce at a .15Goal/G but can shutdown the opponents Goals/G by more then 0.30 Goals/G (and he's really capable of when you check the stats in the table above...) it totals out as a 0.45 net Goals/G for your team. you win by scoring more then you opponent, so preventing some are as valuable as scoring some.

Am hoping the huge mistake in selling Buch cheap was to get cap space, and I pray it is not for damaged goods in Eichel, but maybe Danault. Still don't want him to have a long term deal tho.
