I'm gonna say one extreme and the other: Tampa Bay and Buffalo.

Buffalo Is not one of them. They are smarter than that given their roster.

you know how Toronto is criticized for cap used on 4 F? A similar argument can be applied to overpaying on D. In 2 yrs Buffalo will be resigning Dahlin, Power, Samuelson, and Jokiharju. They will need cap space.

Erik Karlsson signing was something the old Rangers would have done. Insane contract for a guy whose best days are behind him and currently is MIA.

He played very well this season while healthy.

Erik Karlsson is the best example of people getting confused between a bad contract, and a bad player. Karlsson is the former.

he’s a shadow of himself. As a Ranger fan we saw these types of contracts attached to mediocre performances for many years. There is no confusion. He’s not even close to the player he was in Ottawa.

Would a Weber LTIR contract for Karlsson work?

It gives the Sharks much needed cap relief.

Karlsson and Riemer for Bob and Hornqvist makes sense
That’s f***ing garbage for SJ. EK is the definition of more valuable to our team. He is our best player. He might not be the absolute elite, one of the best ever, anymore but he’s still a 1D. Issue is he isn’t healthy. I’d rather keep him than throw him away for scraps.
