One intriguing thing for Canes fans to follow is that Murray will likely play on Byfield's wing next year, and at this point Quinton Byfield appears to be the 2nd best player available after Lafreniere in the 2020 draft.

Interesting prospect in that he scored 30 and is still a disappointment. I watched his YouTube which is him taking pretty straightforward shots over and over again for goals. He doesn’t seem to drive a lot of these plays but is in the right spot to finish them which he does with authority.

Blake Murray signed a ATO with Chicago today. We'll see what he is all about since his Swedish league season is over

might be short lived with the OHL eventually coming back

I've been a fan of Murray since we drafted him and am really hoping that he holds his own. Early in his draft year he was highly touted. He played in one of the lower Swedish leagues, but still, he performed against players mostly his own age.

"Murray, 19, spent the 2020-21 season on loan with Surahammers IF of Hockeyettan, the Swedish third league."

The choice of league is probably most to do with the amateur hockey player shenanigans of the CHL.

Still a long shot, but he seems like an interesting prospect. Good to have him on board.

The Canes and the Lightning farm systems, in particular, have a really long incubation period unless you're an NHL 1%er like Svechnikov. They're both ideal spots for guys that need a little more time like Blake. He's certainly got a lot of goal-scoring chops compared to the typical 6th rounder, so that's a really nice touch.

I feel like this is the least I’ve ever known about a signed draft pick.
He had some serious hype the year before the draft. Came in blazing into the OHL with 20 goals and a .75 ppg rate as a youngster.

the 2nd year most people were expecting this big ppg + push that would put him in higher prospect company. Instead he maintained the same, albeit good, ppg pace his 2nd year. Scout ls saw the great shot, ability to drive the net, and the potential but they couldn’t understand why he wasn’t making the jump.

he was labeled coming into the draft because of the lack of the jump. So most teams passed on him. He fell almost 20 points on the PNHLe his pre draft year. His shot is too good for him to fall that far. He did.

post draft year he shows everyone what his hype was about, scoring 35 in 63 games. 72 points total. He played a strong game with results in the swedish Junior league. He struggled early but got on track to include a 5 point game. Im guessing we brought him on the ATO to see his conditioning and get him to see the workouts he needs to do in the off-season. We’ll see how he comes into prospect camp next year.

probably a LW but could play C.
