Yeah, and I never said that was a bad idea. I said redrafting without a rule change wouldn't work. I said if rule changes were put in place, then it would work.

Trade deadline this year will be March 5th, 2015.

We typically have a one week window after the NHL deadline, but with this year's deadline on March 2nd, I think three days will do. If we extend another week after that, it become too close to our league playoffs.

Basically everyone gets one extra keeper (from 7 to 8, +2 rookies)
Every team will have one randomly selected keeper be thrown into the draft, thus we still have 9 keepers total.

What do you guys think?

I personally think its doable with some sort of compensation (in the 1st round) depending on the players you lose. Each team selects 1st keeper, 2nd keeper, 3rd keeper...etc.
Losing your top keeper would move you up 9 places in the draft...losing second top keeper would move you up 8 places....so on. Readjusted for every team.

Could/would work. Personally, I prefer the notion of salary caps, max keeper durations, etc. What you've proposed would be interesting, but it's also random. I'd rather rule changes that spice things up in a manner that can be planned for, instead of via random chance.
