lol @ people bashing this pick in the 5th round.

we got Scherbak, 2 big D men, and DLR, Crisp and McCarron the year before.

Got rid of Gionta and Briere. Why the hell not pick this kid in the 5th?

Lol @ people raving about the Scherbak pick, and bashing the Audette pick.

Clearly, size wins you Stanley cups.

Audette had a similar season to Scherbak, both were playing on **** teams and thus had to carry their team's pathetic offense.

I'm starting to see a trend though, systematically bashing Qc picks because of X reasons, but I must be high or something, not gonna happen on HFHabs right ?

You'd think after harvesting the likes of Gallagher, the size issue can be put to bed. Of course we now know that you can't make a team of them.

I like the Audette pick more than any other pick in 2014 except Scherbak. However, comparing him to Scherbak as similar in terms of player evaluation shows personal bias. If you are going to evaluate them just using what you see on paper, use the whole picture instead of birthplace, league, and points. 6'2 vs 5'9 makes a difference whether you want to admit it or not as does Audette's -37. There's a reason Audette fell to the 5th round and it's not because he's Q. It's like saying teams didn't like Brayden Point even though he had 91 points as a 17 year old because his last name is a word. You think people would have been happy if Habs drafted him 1st round with those numbers, after all he's an Anglo midget.

Maybe Étienne Pouliot could tell us....but personnally, it's not about production as far as Audette is concerned. It's implication in the play. And either he got tired to be targeted, but for the few times I saw him play, I saw a report from I don't know who and it was banged on....I thought he was WAY more dynamic at the beginning of the year than towards the end. Again....could be because he had enough time to see that it was not worth it. Or that he got fatigued by being the only target of his team. Still, I really liked what I saw during dev. camp. Was clearly the best 2014 draftee out there based on actual results. And he will need to elevate his game offensively AND be more assertive and not shy away from contact.

If he has a heart like his father it wont matter what his size is. Donald was a small player but was always attacking the tough areas of the ice.

You really think anyone cares where in Canada our draft picks come from? (Unless it's from your hometown) If there is, it's from people in Quebec, not outside it.

I think people bash these picks because it's the type of player (small, not great on D) that tend not to make the NHL. It's the type of player that is really tough to ever get excited about. (Perhaps due to our collective 'smurf' inferiority complex?)

You're clearly right.

I mean, it's not that he's a midget and weak, it's more that he's from the Q and that's why people bash him.

lol @ people raving about a 1st rounder and not being enthused with a 5th rounder. :sarcasm:

I've seen you try to start **** on this topic more than once now. Give it up. Where are all those bashing Hudon? Gregoire? Bournival? Hell, Bournival was the board darling for most of the year.

It sure is systematic :sarcasm:
