Bought a Madden jersey last month in anticipation of the 10 year anniversary of that photo/Cup. I have/use his pro return gloves and I nearly ordered an autographed game used stick to match the photo as well.

Along with the Cup win, it's a nice reminder that I watched game 7 with some new friends that I had met via the hockey league I joined that year. Almost all of my friends now I can trace directly or indirectly to the league. Posted that collage on Facebook today.

I was probably too new of a fan to appreciate 1995. The 2000 team still remains my favorite, but the 2003 club was the first one I watched practically every regular season game after graduating college plus being able to afford Center Ice.

you can't say Gigeure didn't deserve the trophy.

you can say Marty deserved it too, but you can't say Gigeure didn't deserve winning it.

There are arguments to be made for why he did/didn't deserve the Conn, so yes you can...

then name them?

what are you gonna tell me, that they lost? if thats all you got, yea.

he was unbelievable those playoffs. if not for him they probably dont even win a round.

It is kinda embarrassing that the first time the Conn Smythe was not awarded to a human was during a year in which we won the cup. They awarded it to a king sized mattress.

I personally still wonder if that goofball goal Marty gave up in game 3, had something to do with him being snubbed. I also wonder if we win in 5 or 6 instead of 7, if they still give it to that astronaut looking clown. Marty got pulled in game 6 in Anaheim after giving up 5 goals, and was pulled in game 4 in Boston in round 1 when we were going for the sweep. I don't think Giguere was pulled once that playoffs. I wonder if that had any bearing also.

If they won in game 7 or at all I wouldn't have had any problem with him getting the Conn Smythe. I was in the building, if the Ducks win game 7 I would have brought the Conn Smythe to Giguere myself, and gave him a round of applause.

All in all I'm not too bitter, because it's not the first time they awarded the MVP to a member of the losing team. It still remains the only time they've done it since Hextall won it in 87. There were a couple other before Hextall and Giguere.

Giguere did not deserve the Conn Smythe... he played exceptionally well through 3 series and was very average in the finals...Giguere was essentially awarded the Smythe in the Western conference finals against Minnesota.

If memory serves me right, Giguere allowed more goals in the finals than he did in the first 3 rounds...that to me is a choke not MVP worthy.
