So I've been wondering if you guys share the same thoughts about our current players as me. In this vote (and the 9 to come), I'm asking you for the 10 most valuable Habs in terms of market value (Not how much you like them).
Please do NOT turn this into a hate thread.

Please vote for #1.

Cheers! :yo:

1) Price

EDIT: In terms of market value, goaltenders can't fetch the same return as a superstar player, even more when that player is a #1d Norris winner like Subban. Please consider my vote changed:

1) Subban
2) Price
3) Pacioretty
4) Plekanec
5) Galchenyuk (possibly a future franchise player, should probably be ranked higher, not sure)

Not to take away from Price but...1D is the most important position in hockey, and we have one of the best.

Should the contract status be included?

Also are we talking value for this season or for the franchise long term?

Subban.

I don't think it's a huge coincidence that the team hasn't been winning since he's stopping putting up points on a regular basis. He's just been tentative and a shadow of his old self from last season and earlier this season.

Not that this slide is on Subban, it's not (it's a collective team issue), but the fact he hasn't been as elite as he can be is definitely hurting us badly right now.

I FALI at this thread

Well, I voted Budaj, but that was an accident, because I was aiming my clicker at Price.

And I also misread the original OP (didn't actually read it) to mean: who is most valuable to Habs?

Soooo, I see the argument for Subban or even Pacioretty when factoring in his contract, but I think I still go with Price. Smaller market for goalies, but to take Edmonton for example, I think you would get a better return for Price than Subban, even though Edmonton could really use both.

But, empirically, I might be wrong. Top defencemen historically get better returns than top goalies in trades. However, I also think that more top defencemen get traded than top goalies.

Anyway, I leave this thread now, feeling like someone who gets off a crowded elevator after having farted audibly.

Top-25

#1) P.K. Subban
#2) Alex Galchenyuk
#3) Carey Price - (our star, but goalies never fetch a great return)
#4) Max Pacioretty
#5) Tomas Plekanec - (should be higher, but underrated severely).
#6) Brendan Gallagher
#7) Andrei Markov - (would net a sick return on the trade market)
#8) Jarred Tinordi
#9) Nathan Beaulieu
#10) Brian Gionta - (would net a solid return as a UFA)
#11) Sven Andrighetto - (one team is willing to give up a top-6 forward for him, plus take a cap dump in return)
#12) Lars Eller
#13) David Desharnais
#14) Jacob de la Rose
#15) Raphael Diaz - (ridiculous that he's not playing - should net a solid return for a UFA)
#16) Josh Gorges - (not his best season, but he's underrated around here)
#17) Martin Reway
#18) Travis Moen
#19) Brandon Prust
#20) Alex Emelin - (brutal contract or would be much higher)
#21) Louis Leblanc
#22) Zachary Fucale - (low because he's a goalie)
#23) Michael McCarron - (project forward but teams would take the risk)
#24) Sebastien Collberg - (project forward but has some amazing skill)
#25) Michael Bournival
