TONIGHT’S GAME

- The Bruins host the Ducks tonight in the 1st of 2 games between these teams this season and the Ducks’ lone visit of the season to TD Garden … The Bruins are 26-17-5 overall and are 11-12-2 on home ice … They are 3-2-3 vs. Pacific Division teams and are 5-7-3 vs. Western Conference opponents.

- The Bruins are concluding tonight their 7th of 11 sets of back-to-back games and they enter tonight with a 4-2-1 record in the 1st game and 4-1-1 mark in game 2s.

- They are concluding as well their 7th of 12 sets of 3-games-in-4-nights and they enter this series 2-3-2 in the 1st game, 3-2-2 in the 2nd and 4-2-0 in game 3s.

- The Bruins close out the pre-All-Star Game portion of their schedule tonight and will next play on Tuesday, Feb. 2 when they host Toronto.

BOSTON vs. ANAHEIM, LIFETIME SERIES

- The Bruins and Ducks are meeting for the 29th time in their franchise histories with the Bruins having a 13-12-2-1 record and Anaheim owning a 75-74 scoring edge in those games.

- The Bruins are 7-6-0-1 in their 14 home games of this lifetime series with the Ducks holding a 41-39 scoring edge in those contests.

- The Bruins are 0-2-1 in their last 3 games vs. the Ducks following a 2-game win streak and they are 5-6-1 in their last 11 games overall of this lifetime series with their last win a 3-2 shootout victory in Boston on Oct. 31, 2013 … They are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games vs. Anaheim on home ice.

Fun Fact: 4 of the last 5 games between these teams ended in 3-2 scores, including 2 via OT or shootout, with each team winning twice.

… The Ducks (123) and Bruins (131) enter tonight’s game with the fewest power play opportunities of any NHL teams this season.

The view from SoCal

http://www.latimes.com/sports/ducks/la-sp-ducks-report-20160126-story.html

Ducks defenseman Simon Despres is on the verge of returning from concussion symptoms that have kept him out since Oct.16.

Ducks Coach Bruce Boudreau said Monday that Despres will be available when the Ducks play Tuesday at Boston, their final game before the All-Star break this weekend.

Despres joined the team after a four-game conditioning stint with the San Diego Gulls. Boudreau stopped short of saying Despres will play but indicated it's likely.

"We'll talk about it in the morning and see how it goes," Boudreau said. "We're not going to throw him in for 25 minutes … if he plays we'll monitor his ice time, but if he's ready, he's ready."

I hope they have their skating legs tonight. They owe Tuukka one.

Ducks have been practicing at BU since Sunday having last played Saturday in Detroit.

At least the Bruins were back in Bedford before Midnight after playing in Philly but the Ducks are going to be rested and they are fully aware at the B's home record.

Yeah, I don't really have high hopes for this game. Back to back against a well rested Ducks team. The game before their vacation. The Ducks are still a great team even though they've had a tough go of it. I hope the Bruins come out strong, but can totally see them being a bit flat tonight.

They looked wiped out by the 2nd period last night, hope they surprise us tonight.

The Bruins are concluding tonight their 7th of 11 sets of back-to-back games and they enter tonight with a 4-2-1 record in the 1st game and 4-1-1 mark in game 2s.

- They are concluding as well their 7th of 12 sets of 3-games-in-4-nights and they enter this series 2-3-2 in the 1st game, 3-2-2 in the 2nd and 4-2-0 in game 3s.

So far this year they have done well in the final games of these sets.

Not expecting anything great tonight, especially considering Gus will likely be in net and the Ducks have been heating up.

That being said, they've been decent on back to backs this season (unless last season...god help us) so maybe they'll surprise me. A win would put us at 2nd in the Atlantic.

Let's go boys!! 2 points!

Welcome to the ****ing conversation Claude, Jesus H it took you long enough.

Scratch this piece of **** so we're never subjected to the torture of watching him play again.

You saddled two guys who are offensive weapons in Beleskey and Pasta with this goddamned anchor last night and had Spooner on the ****ing wing, I still can't believe that.

Ferraro and/or Randell deserve to play. Let them play and never let Kemppainen see the ice again, he is the worst hockey player this side of the ****ing Atlantic.

Would like to see Ferraro and Randell in. Might need some fresh legs and attitude tonight. Ducks can get pretty physical and nasty. Don't know how the heck they started the season off so bad. They are very tough to play against.

going to be a tough one . anaheim slowly finding its game since its putrid start . the only good thing to come out of this if we lose it gets the ducks that much closer to catching the sharks
-hoping connolly gets another one. him finding confidence and points would greatly influence eriksson being traded and ultimate success of this team this year
-hopefully they call up koko to replace kemp if spooner is truly going to be a winger from this point on

im guessing 3-2 ot win for the b's: keep the faith
