My biggest concern for the season is whether Lehner is a capable #1 goaltender or not. I just hope he has a good start in the season against his old teammates...

A reminder that Buffalo's morning skate is from 10:30-11:30am, so Gionta's status and any updated lines/scratches should stream in around then.

Awww Yeah! We probably won't make the playoffs this year, but it's going to be an interesting season regardless. We get to watch some truly special players develop, and hopefully grow into their future roles.

Let's go Buffalo!

I never realized how nice of a team Ottawa has until comparing our lines. When you have no expectations of your own team, it's easy to tune out.

Slight edge to Sens first line.
Slight edge to our 2nd line.
3RD and 4th line are a push.
Big edge to Sens defense and goalie.

Ottawa could be set for a really nice year.

Feels good to be excited about hockey again, and not in an oh-man-I-hope-we-finish-last way :D Onward and upward

edit: and yes, GDT impressive and comprehensive as always. Thanks!

Taking a look at theirs and other defenses across the league makes you realize that we still have a looong way to go. Especially if Bogosian is going to be a perennial injury problem. It could be another few years before we're even average back there on D.

Ugh at those line combos, should be...

Kane-ROR-Ennis
Moulson-Eichel-Girgensons
Foligno-Larsson-Reinhart
Des-Legwand-McGinn

No argument with the patchwork D-corps...can't shine that turd yet.

So what happens when Eichel cuts into the zone and threads a beautiful pass to Reinhart, Reinhart pots his first NHL goal, Eichel his first NHL point... Who gets the puck? Reinhart because first NHL goal > first NHL point? Cut it in half?
