And how is Crosby's commitment to the defensive zone compared to Eichel's? How is Crosby's battle for the puck compared to Eichel's? I think we can somewhat overlook the disappointing statistics if Eichel was playing in his own end like a soon to be $10 million/yr player.

Unfortunately, he's not. He's lacking in all 3 zones, he's lacking in effort, he's lacking in most aspects of hockey this season. The attitude is not something new. The lack of awareness is not something new. THAT is the alarming part about giving him that new contract. If he didn't sign that new contract, he's most likely not getting that contract. Buffalo took the chance Eichel he would step up, and they are looking like they gambled wrong.

You guys are nuts. He is here for offense. You acquired ROR and Larsson for these other aspects. ROR is like a -75 or something this year, and Larsson probably should go play in Sweden. Is Malkkn, or Pat Kane, or Tyler Seguin superstar defensive players? Obviously not. He just needs to score more.

The reason this team sucks is because of the AHL calibre defence we're icing every night.

That is the #1 reason and it's not close.

Andy Greene-Steve Santini
John Moore-Damon Severson
Will Butcher-Ben Lovejoy

Ummmm, that's a 2 on 2. His responsibility is the man behind him. Like I said, agenda ridden BS.

wow... i mean... i've seen you go to bat in ridiculous fashion for "your guy" before (Ennis is downright good defensively)

... but this one...

is something

Pat Kane - 6 goals, 13 assist, 19 points

Tyler Seguin - 8 goals, 10 assists, 18 points

Evgeni Malkin - 7 goals, 14 assists, 21 points

Jack Eichel - 5 goals, 12 assists, 17 points

Jame and Okimlom can go hang out with Peter Chiarelli. Clueless.

No, He's here to be a COMPLETE HOCKEY FRANCHISE PLAYER. If you're intentions of drafting Eichel was for strictly offense, then you wasted that #2 overall pick. A Pick that should be handled with more weight. Something I'm sure you think Reinhart should be looked at, at #2, a complete elite player. ROR, was acquired to be a great HOCKEY player, a two-way player. If you're making moves to get one piece at a time (offense player, defense player), then you're going to get a disjointed, dysfunctional team. Larsson was brought here as a secondary support player, that probably wasn't looked at as an important piece.

Seguin, Kane, Malkin, though NOT SUPERSTAR defensive players, are guys who are hungry for the puck who work for the puck, who are competent in breaking up plays. Their attitudes are not even close to how bad Eichel's is. Eichel is supposed to be a leader of the team, based on HIS actions/words, and how his teammates look to him in play and on the ice. Eichel is supposed to be a total player. He was scouted that way. He was scouted on the same level as McDavid. Though, not on the same level, the expectations that he was going to be a two-way force.

So... just list some of the players scoring a lot more than Eichel? What's your point?

That great, highly paid players, who don't play a lick of defense, are having essentially the same season as Eichel, but their teams don't suck. But that was obvious.

How do you go about responding to this... oh right, "agenda BS"

Let me try my stokes on....
Bergeron 4/8/12
Toews 5/8/13
Stepan 3/8/11
Thornton 2/8/10
Reinhart 4/5/9

lol

Those guys shut down other teams top players night in and night out. Reinhart shuffles around our lineup like a lost puppy dog. It would be much more appropriate to compare ROR to them. And ROR has been pretty good, but nobody can play a shut down role in front of this defense.

"Those guys lead their teams in effort and team play night in and night out. Eichel sulks around the ice, expecting others to step up and lead"

This is fun... keep going.

Again, your statements have no quantifiable basis. But it's fun watching you flail wildly and have a temper tantrum.
