I see a big difference between a guy proven in this league who is coming back from a major knee injury and a veteran player switching leagues.I feel like if we can give Hall an excuse with rust we can give Gusev a break for his 5th NHL game ever.
Rooney played better and harder than Bratt tonight.
That’s him struggling to keep up, not actually doing anything of use. He’s a garbage NHL player.Rooney played better and harder than Bratt tonight.

I'd like to see Hynes put Bratt some where else in the lineup, get him away from Gusev. But where? We pile on Rooney 'cause he's a pile of s--t.
It's not like we're scapegoating a talented player.
This is a PLUG who got more minutes than two of our most talented players!!!!!! C'MON, MAN!!
Ok, he was still the Better player tonight. Not sure what game the Bratt heads were watching but I barely noticed him. Pick your Beatles, this wasn’t the game for it.
This is also a symptom of having hynes as coach. He gets the most out of plugs.
^ of course he did. (that's sarcasm, btw)
Meanwhile, Bratt had 7:46 of ice time.
But by all means....please continue to purposely annoy me. Thanks (I know what you're doing there)
He was played too much in his rookie season. And that's why he faded late.I would like ONE GAME where I see Bratt with at least 13 minutes(or better) of ice time.
I feel like I'm watching his Rookie season all over again where he was jerked around by Hynes by using him sparingly at many points of the season (with no rhyme or reason).
Bratt has 2 assists in 5 games this abortion-of-a-season thus far.
Rooney, in contrast, has NOTHING.
Where is this "better player" bullsh-t?
Stop talking nonsense.
Bratt has succeeded in a Hynes system. In not trying to annoy you but Rooney has some nice hustle plays in the neutral zone and he’s not going to be that Bratt skilled player.
If anything gusev is too much like Bratt and I’m not sure either will succeed in a hynes system.

Severson - 2 gf 8 gaThe players 5on5 performance through 5 games:
Bratt has succeeded in a Hynes system.
I think the issue this year is trying to keep skill with skill, despite the awful results.
They were a liability prior to Rooney. Their issues are not Rooney. Heck, he was on the ice for one of their goals this year.Okay then..
Let's analyze :
When did Bratt excel?
Answer : When he was on a line with Hall and Nico. He had his best year, his rookie season until he faded in the 2nd half.
Now he had some moderate success playing with Zacha on a line, too.
Other than that, I cannot remember any other situation where he had sustainable success on a line.
Bratt and Gusev aren't defensive-wizards, naturally but Rooney centering them really turns that line into a liability.
yankees won so i literally don’t care and it’s just so liberating, wow.

Now do we put Bratt on the top line? Then go Zacha Hughes Palms, Gusev Rooney Simmonds on the 4th? Maybe.
But consider Bratt has 1 5v5 s0g. 2 shots total. Not good.

Hynes didn't play Rooney many minutes, so it's not fair to say he really likes him.If you wanted to notice him you should have been watching the bench. And it's a sign of a bad coach to really really like lousy players who "hustle". Remember Pete used to just love Pete Jr.
