calm down dude, Ristolainen is without a doubt the best defenseman here looking at his all around game

No... hes really not. Provorov is worlds better defensively, worlds better on the PK and puts up better P/60 ES. Risto is a PP specialist who sucks in his own zone. id sooner take Zaitsev over Risto than Risto over Provorov

Well the two best players on the list are Russian, so I'll go with them.
Ristolainen is not Russian, is he? Swap Juolevi with Heiskanen and this could turn around.

I think Provorov is the best of these guys closely followed by Risto. Provy really doesn't make a mistake very often.

Ristolainen >>> anyone else. Rest don't even matter.

Why are the Sabres garbage when he's on the ice then? His possesion stats are garbage, he has trouble playing the transition game the Sabres want to play.

Last year people blamed Gorges, this year they will again blame whoever is playing with him.

Ristolainen is a #3D right now and that is being generous.

Provorov is the best of the bunch at the moment. Followed by Risto/Zaitsev.

Nah, it's a tossup between him and Zaitsev for the 3rd place :sarcasm:

Sarcasm aside, Määttä is actually making a kind of comeback this season. Skating looks better. If he gets back to his rookie season level and surpasses it, and you switch Juolevi with a hotter prospect (Heiskanen/even Välimäki), it's a better poll.

I hate to get too high on Maatta while we're only 3 games into the season, but if he continues in this vein, he's going to change a lot of people's opinions.

Well, skating has been his main problem during his rough stretch, so if that's fixed now, he can finally continue from where he was after his rookie season. Hope that's the case.

The main problem, yeah. I want to see the improvement stick when the season's grind is well under way.

I think there was some confidence and usage problems too. Again, I want to see the solutions stick.

The Russians.

All are solid quality D men that any team would be happy to have.

Sergachev ~ Valimaki (Serg has more potential but I feel more confident on Valimaki hitting his potential)

I've actually watched Risto play, and he's a really, really bad defenseman. I'd confidently say he's actually the worst player on this list.
