Can't remember Methot having issues with his hand. Thought it was his back?
We'd be real contenders with Methot in our lineup today. Losing him was disgusting.
He doesn't score or generate offense. He's a career bottom six forward. He's reverted to the terrible version of himself. Saw glimpses of the old Smith last year but for the most part he's been underwhelmingThey are going to miss Smith, he does a lot of the things coaches especially this one love, very good defensive forward & good at faceoffs & hard to play against.

I think you helped solidify my point. In general top 6 forwards are for generating offense. He should be playing bottom 6 minutes where he can still be defensively responsible and at the same time play against lesser players. You make it seem like we have no two way forwards playing top 6 minutes. Stone, Brassard, Duchene, Turris while he was here, Ryan? Are they not responsible enough that they need Smith playing with them? I think most can agree Smith is a shell of his former self. He used to be an in your face pest that can chip in regardless of where he plays. He's not that anymore and I don't think its strictly because Boucher defined a different role for him. He's been this way under Stache as well. That's not his role to create offence, he's the defensive conscience on any line he is put on & is a player that needs someone else to get him the puck in scoring positions. He should be playing with Stone who knows how to get him the puck but GB needs him in other roles apparently which obviously fans who only seem to understand offence & pts don't seem to understand the importance of good defensive forwards who are hard to play against.
It's why GB picked Smith first to play with Hoffman & Duchene because he wanted a defensive forward with those two. The rest of your post is nonsense, Smith is an excellent defensive forward, he's good at faceoffs & is one of the very few forwards on this roster that plays with some grit. The problem with so many on here is that if a player is not producing offensively they are considered useless & all the other things they do well doesn't matter. Luckily the coach appreciates what Smith is capable of & all the different roles he can play for this team. They should get rid of Dzingel at the deadline, he's a player that contributes nothing to this team at forward including when he plays in the top 6.

You're known for having a love affair with gritty type players but had issues with acquiring Zucc. I don't get it. Boro is out of the lineup and we seem to be doing fine?
If there was ever a golden opportunity for Nick Paul, I would say this is it.

Well I'm a little surprised he just got sent down because I was hoping with another body out Paul could have been able to get a few more games to show something. With Smith out, the forward corps aren't a particularly big group. What was he supposed to do with that opportunity?

marc methot has only played more than 70 games twice in his career. He is injured now. He was a big part of our team, but for 5 million a year i want someone that can actually stay healthy more often than not and preferably one who doesnt have back problems
