#1 - A legit 2C, but likely won't pay the price (come see us with your underperforming cap hits with term and we will send back RyJo + some sort of future thing)

#2 - A more trustworthy backup goaltender (won't pay much above a mid rounder for that, but if you take RyJo, maybe)

#3 - Reasonable fan expectations and understanding that not every year is going to be a cup year

The best possible return for Gostisbehere so Edvinsson is finally allowed up.
The best return for whichever winger we don't intend to re-sign so Berggren is finally allowed up.
The best possible return for Reimer so he's finally away from the team.

I see Edmonton signing Corey Perry on January 26th(the day after their final game vs the Hawks) and not much else. Of course, a lot can change by the deadline but they're 17-3 in their last 20 games and have shown they can win any type of game.
Unless Holland pulls off a miracle and moves Jack Campbell(zero chance IMO)

Lindholm to Colorado makes way too much sense. They need help at 2C, faceoffs, PK and defensively. They literally solve all issues with one player.
The Avs don't need Lindholm for PK especially once Lehky comes back. Even right now we are fine in that department. We need Lindholm so we have a 2nd line to send out behind the top guys. Right the top line is overplayed at 25-30 mins per game.

Just looked it up. They actually have a good PK. My mistake. Lindholm would certainly make it even better though.

I doubt they would use him for that when we have other guys more suited for the job.
No one in the league is a better PKer than Lindholm. He's been 1st among forwards, 3rd among forwards and 7th among forwards the last 3 years. No one else has been top 10 all 3 years.

All aspiring teams want a 2C, a top 6 forward , a top 4 defense or a starting goalie but who wants to pay for these players and who has the salary space?
If everything lines up, the Canucks have 11.5 million in two superfluous players, and a few firsts and moderate prospects that could be had. We can make the cap space and pay the price, if the fit is there.

if detroit misses playoffs they have 3 cheap ufa to sell for futures :
-kane @ 2.75
-gostbehere @ 4.175
-sprong @ 2
-detroit could retain 50% in any deal
-all 3 are offensive weapons playing good hockey
-and maata @ 2X3 is solid stay at home bottom pair option

realistically, a middle 6 forward and depth defenseman

in my opinion

a depth defenseman, a lindgren replacement, at least 2 forwards to get the garbage out of our bottom 6, and maybe even a middle 6 center if chytil is done for the year.
