Speculation: your team's trade deadline needs

-ideally a top 6 center, since all of boston's centers are middle 6 types
-top 6 skilled winger (they can barely afford one top 6 guy - cap wise/asset wise - so this is one or the other)
-more grit
-defenseman (most want a gryz replacement, but they could also get a RHD since mcavoy/carlo are injury prone)

And you are paying him how, and you trading for him how, and you can live with his contract until the end when he is 37, and you can live with his injury history that I am sure will improve as he ages.

Id say this sums it up. A top 4 or top pairing RHD, who I'd prefer with speed, snarl and size is need number one.

A top six player, either a C if the lotto line is sticking together, or a winger if Miller and Petey are being split up, is a secondary need. I feel Tocchet has assets, in Kuzmenko, on the roster otherwise, and in the minors, that could/should work, but who doesn't like a shiny new toy. A fast, massive powerforward (a monster, not a hybred) is who i see being the best choice.

I wouldn't want a guy giving up 3.89 goals against per 60 either. Especially on pace for 26 ES points when you don't have a role for him on PP1.

That's the key thing I think. A good defensive guy who can move the puck. Like a Slavin type. Not Slavin obviously, but that type.

Quality 2C - Lindholm level of quality
Two way Top 4 RHD, solid defensively, solid on the PP/PK

Failing the above options:

Bottom six center who can PK & good on face offs & plays wing & good defensively
3rd pairing defense depth, solid defensively
