And so another year has gone
And for the faithful of the red and black,
it's been another trying year
to simply try and track.
Out of the gate we seemed
to fly and push the play.
Yet even in that same game,
we would let the lead slip away.
This theme would be recurring
and through at least game twenty,
the HFBoard contingent grew weary
and hot takes, they were aplenty.
"Trade away Nico!" some shouted
with no regard for the captain at all.
For if you're not scoring goals,
what kind of leader can he be called?
"Jack is a disgrace!" others yelled,
"how can you commit long term!?"
"He hasn't proven anything yet,
and this contract? We'll surely be burned."
A six game losing streak to close out the month,
followed by a holiday COVID outbreak.
And for another year,
we begin to question how much of this we can take.
But for some of the faithful,
patience remains stead.
For there is no ability to get fed up
when the team's core still has puberty ahead!
Jack, Nico, Bratt and Ty
Dawson, Dougie and Mac too.
The hope is that this group and more
can assemble a competitive crew.
And while there are some
who expect greatness overnight.
The reality is somewhere in the middle,
and the next step will hopefully be in plain sight.
While it hasn't quite been
the first half we all had hoped.
It is far too soon to abandon ship
and for that, we can cope.
The core has been established,
largely young they may be.
But it hopefully leads to a bright future
with another Cup. Or two. Or three.
