I don't think it will tbh, in fact I think it may scare the marketing team shitless in regards to how they handle ticket sales if it's still a likely first-round series. We're not above profiting from regular season games when the team will have clinched a playoff berth already by then.

If that game means anything for NJD in regards for the division, I'm sure a ton of Devils fans will show up. Carolina has a gauntlet coming up at home with the Rags, Boston, Toronto and the Lightning. Wild part is if I'm going with 2 of my Rangers buddies from college so I'm not exactly helping on the 30th. But for the playoffs, I'm going with my brother who's a Devils fan + an Isles buddy who said he'd cheer for the Devils if they play the Rags.

We all need to set this as our forum avatar once the playoffs starts. All HFDevils must unite.

When I used to lurk back in the late 2000's-early 2010's, I remember @Richer's Ghost would make avatars based on a theme for the playoffs, but not sure if that's still a thing with how bad they've been lately lol. DD + Rangers Doggo avatar would be the funniest shit.

“This team is still not going anywhere this year!!”

I have a part of me wishes this person could explain this sentence to me. I don’t want to debate it, just wrap my brain around what it means.

It’s March 21st and they’re apoplectic about us being one-and-done in the playoffs?

How do they understand “progress” as a concept?

Does this take just disappear into ether when they get a lead and after wins, only to then re-materialize when trailing and after losses?

Are they angry at the whole team here? Do they see this as a form of voluntary entertainment they enjoy?

Just wild stuff. (Note: I’m well aware that I lack a True Commitment to Excellence and very ashamed about that.)

Once we clinch we can have some official talks about whether we want to do a theme and who has time to make them

We could start now but I'm superstitious

Edit: also who am I kidding. We are going to have a Pepe theme

It's sports fans wanting instant gratification, we all want wins but some want them way more than others. I rather have us look like that randomly eek out wins come playoffs, their powerplay and their finishing are the two things they have to fix and you can't technically "fix" the latter because you can't practice that. Regardless where we end up this Spring, whether it's one of the greatest stories in franchise history and lifting the Cup after having 60 points or being bounced out in Round 1 to our most hated rival, I hope this fanbase can appreciate this season for the stepping stone season if it's the latter. As a younger Devils fan who missed their glory years, this is one of seasons I can proudly wear that NJ Devils jersey whether it's a local sports bar or to games.

Not even slightly impressed with Minnesota. This should have been an easy win but that’s the way it goes sometimes
Shit officiating aside....

Wild fan 100% in peace (Devils are the East coast team I'm rooting for).

Why would you not be impressed with MN? Missing Kap (leaps and bounds the best our org has ever had) and Spurgeon and managed to sneak out a win... what's not impressive there? Mods delete if needed, not trying to insult, just curious.

As far as the East goes, go Devils!

Probably just anger from the game talking, Gustavsson stealing that game from NJD probably irks a ton of us here + the shootout win from earlier in the year when we were missing Hughes. I think the Wild are pretty damn good, you guys are in the same spot as us in the Central with two really good teams who can easily go on a run. I'd sign up for a Wild Devils SCF lol

More of a stylistic thing on my end. Goalie played great and there are some nice players with kap and boldy. It just seemed like there style was more sit around and wait for a bounce which ironically is what the old devils teams used to do

It’s equivalent to running the triple option in football

The only thing that is gonna leave me unimpressed is when Evason starts the playoffs with Fleury over Gustavsson, which will definitely tank a win or two. I know he will probably be fairly quick to go to Gustavsson, as he even brought Talbot in for the elimination game and benched Fleury last year for that one, but honestly I think you need to start with Gustavsson.

I’ve been saying it since December or possibly even November.

Fleury is cooked and inevitably is going to get the veteran treatment over Guss when fleury’s play doesn’t warrant it

He’s an okay backup at this point, but that’s it.

Even if he were an average starter, which I’m pretty sure he’s not, Gustavsson should still have played a lot more than him this season.

I’ve been saying it on here and on the main board for months now.

Most Wild fans would agree with you... hopefully Do Nothing Deano has learned. Gus should be the obvious #1 going into the playoffs, but we're not holding our breath. Sorry, didn't mean to interject in your GDT so much. Go Devils! (Until our SCF match-up, lol). Cheers guys

Ignore the heretic, I thought your team defense was very good, particularly since you were without Spurgeon. Gustavsson and your team defense pair disturbingly well together, he was fantastic.

Boldy is great, and Kirill is obviously a superstar, but in the end your team’s potential downfall in the playoff’s will be 1) it doesn’t generate a ton of offense 2) it doesn’t have an elite lethal PP that can make up for problem #1.

You need more offense (which is something that get fixed in the off-season). The recent uptick in goals is from a rise in On-Ice SH%, which doesn’t likely mean that much longterm (unless your team stays white hot through June).

We’re also a work in progress, we need our PP to get its shit together or we aren’t doing much of anything in the playoffs either.

Great post, and also the post you are replying too.
If you're not happy with the position the team is in now, then it's on you. We are not just sneaking into a postseason position, but f***ing 3rd in the league. The whole f***ing league.

Long live the days of the OG's like RichtersGhost producing outstanding GDT's of winning teams for decades that can't quite make it over the line, but until then you negative Nancy, moody softies, of boomers(1) and others can learn to live with some pain.

If you're e expecting a 90% chance of a cup winner after the 5-10 years we've had then you're likely not to find any joy in your life.
As I suspect whether we we win 1, 2 or 3 rounds or even the cup this postseason you'll find something that you deem to be "not manged well", or some draft pick as an insurmountable disappointment.

So to all the aforementioned, f*** You.

To the remaining, let's enjoy this, as it's been a long time coming and we and the franchise deserve it.

For a fan on the other side of the world I can proudly say for the first time in a long time I am proud of the NJD success in a season. What else do you need as a sports fan?

Didn’t watch last night because I didn’t want to deal with a shitty stream and the WBC final was on, but did we just get severely goalie’d? 48 shots to 29 seems like it. Or was this like when the Canes outshot us by a lot but it was all kept to the exterior.

Anyway, Timo goal!! And I’ll take the point.

I want the banner and I think the boys deserve it.

Plus it's legit right there for the taking and home ice for the first two rounds would be really nice.
Considering how up-and-down the Devils have been at home, I don't think HIA (Home Ice Advantage) is going to be the advantage you think.

Ugh. Too bad Nico whiffed on that chance early in the 3rd. Bratt absolutely undressed Brodin on entry. That was a hell of a move. Thought Jesper looked good again tonight. He’s got the swagger back.
The question remains however :

Did he sign the contract or was there an agreement reached with Fitz and Bratt's agent (and he found out recently)?

Gusty made huge saves like last game...Hamilton pinched in ot puck hit pipes right to Boldy....Ruff said it best we tried to make a play it went the other way on a shot off the pipes and are shootouts lately haven't been great so it happens.....Vtek made some huge saves first goal I think Palat didn't get puck out and that led to extended pressure in zone....Timo played heavy game but they were the heavier team overall....Solid effort just Goali'd

The two things I am frustrated by with this loss:

The power play is just flat out bad.

I know the stats say he had a great game, but I am little tired of watching Jack skate in circles, refuse to pass, then turn the puck over.

All this crap will get worked out I'm sure though.
