Another come from behind/road win. If ee didn't have that collapse against the Panthers we very well could of had 3 or 4 points this weekend. This was a good game to snap that 3 game skid. The Lightning as still a good team and the Panthers are fighting for a wildcard spot. It's not like we lost to bad opponents. Could of been a worse skid if we lost to a basement team.

I am traveling and I have missed the last week or so. I saw Foote was inserted (into Boucher...Dad joke in french). Anyone have a sense how pairings and lines are gelling? I saw Nico and Bratt call out Timos work even though he did not score.

I didn’t really think the second goal against was that bad. Looked like Nico impeded with his ability to make the save.

I remember Schmid allowing a similar goal in that one-off call up where he played the Blues, in between these two longer call ups.

not sure if this was posted earlier but worth a repost if so

the beat you missed Lindy was adding "... and a great way for the rest of the team to think about how they should play if they want those things said and thought of them as a teammate."

Think like a winner guys.

I can only imagine the chills the players got seeing that, especially the young ones who haven’t had a taste of playoff hockey yet. Knowing they have a guy like that on the team who will sacrifice everything to get to the ultimate goal. Play how Ondrej plays and this team will go places.

I think there's a few things going on with Foote and the perception of him among Devils fans - first, that the Devils didn't draft him, second that he had kind of a down year last season in Utica.

I missed last night's game but to me the question with guys like this is always the small-area plays. If Foote doesn't have the speed, that's fine, as long as he can keep plays alive along the boards and chip in a few goals around the net. There's always going to be a spot in this league for guys like Pat Maroon - it might not be as high up in the lineup as it once was, but it'll always be there.
Last year I think they came to the conclusion that, because of his skating, he’s not a top 6 player, and if he is to make it, it would be as a bottom 6 guy.

So they told him to play more physical and stuck him on Gauthier’s wing.

So the numbers last year ( and most likely this year as well but I don’t really know) need to be considered with that context.

At this year’s prospect camp he talked about the need to get stronger. Which I saw as a late to the game realization but speaks to the transition in his game as well.

Foote’s path to NHL permanence seems fairly clear.

He needs to win puck battles on the boards with his size, he needs to play good enough defense to match his 5 on 5 offense, and he needs to find his way into the PP, in any position, where his strengths are emphasized.

If I was drawing up his off-season practice it would be skating, winning 1 on 1s at the board and point, and being the net front guy on the PP.

Foote looked plenty fast trying to beat out that icing call.
For me, except with Wood, speed usually doesn’t mean top speed, it means effective speed.

Effective speed is a lot about your ability to maintain speed when turning and your first step. As examples, Hughes and Bratt have good top speeds but what makes their speed a problem for the other team is how quickly they get up to speed and maintain it while changing directions. If you watch the top speeds of the night, Bratt and Hughes normally aren’t on top.

For Foote (and Holtz), they both have fine top speeds, it’s that they’re both a little slow out of the blocks when the play changes direction. Some of that is themselves and some of that is speed of reading the game; both things they can get better at.

Yeah I just found out about all that "stuff". I deleted my post and your quote of it. Don't wanna glorify any part of that dude now.

I need a shower.
Okay...what the hell did this guy actually do for you to say that?

The tweet was deleted (here) before I could go and see what people were saying about him.

If you don't want to glorify him, just send me a PM of the tweet so I can see what you are talking about.

I've just seen bits and pieces, but @NjDevsRR posted something that someone said on twitter about how him and his GF used to stalk Keith Kinkaid (of all people lol) and follow players cars out of the building, as well as rip people off by selling shitty (possibly fake?) autographs.

I looked through a few comments on twitter and he seems to be well-known by other Devils fans and he's apparently a Jersey guy that was just traveling down here for games. He's not a fellow Floridian Devils fan living down here like myself.

One guy commented that he has a funny story about him, but never shared it. Just said he seemed cool at first and they hung out and the beach bash and then things went bad.

I swear to you...I only kept to Twitter when it came to Kinkaid. :sarcasm:

(really....)

(heh...)

But selling fake autographs? Isn't that like a crime?

Yeah, I'm not sure if they were fake autographs or just ones that weren't in great shape or faded, etc, or what?

The shitty autograph comment wasn't really clear or specified.

It appears this guy is well-known and others back in Jersey have encountered this guy before. He was about 5 or 6 rows in front of me at the Panthers game.

Never seen him at last night's game, but apparently he threw that bucket hat during the Bratt hat trick and Bratt picked it up and put it on then gave it to Nico.

I'm not going to say anything here because it could be construed as defamation. If you search Twitter you'll find plenty of folks who claim to know him either directly or through a friend. I saw posts from someone I know personally and trust their moral compass enough to just say no way and move along.

So I guess he’s a Jersey guy that was traveling down here to see the games?

Like I said, this dude was sitting a few rows in front of me at the Panthers game. I didn’t see him last night. He had the same Bratt short sleeve or cut off jersey on, but he had the hat hat and a different pair of sunglasses on, which I don’t think he ever took off that night.

He was definitely a little goofy at times, like the two consecutive let’s go Brandon chants in the 1st period.

He was also acting a little bit loaded at times, but I never seen him drinking anything. May have just been his personality.

Player stalking is weird. The most I’ll go is watching the team bus pull into the building or driving by the team hotel and making a u turn out of there lol.
Ok then.
